So quiet and close to amenities

Oven didn’t work but owner cooked our food

Loved the location, just a few yards to the beach. Plenty of room to spread out in the apartment. The beds were comfortable, bedding clean and plenty of fresh towels. We ordered a meal from the pub to have in our apartment, the staff at the pub were very helpful and obliging and boxed up the food for us. Our food was reasonably priced, hot and absolutely delicious.

Unfortunately the TV was broken and kept going off every few minutes. This didn't bother us a great deal but may be a problem for some. The kitchen sink taps were really difficult to turn off and need attention. The toilet roll holder in the bathroom was also broken.

The apartments are self-catering, but the pub is there if one wishes to eat out. I have stayed before and find the staff and management friendly and accommodating. As there is a large caravan site nearbye, the bar and restaurant can be really busy but the staff will always find a table for residents, even if they have forgotten to book. The food is excellent pub food, priced competively and well presented. The apartments are on the first floor, so there are stairs to reach them. They are roomy and well furnished. I cook most nights when I stay and the kitchen is well stocked. WIFI very good and there is a large television, with cable channels. Garliston is a few miles from Wigtown, Scotland's Book Town so a perfect location for book lovers. There are several nice walks in the area suitable for the canine member of the family. Also the Swallow Theatre, (a delightful tiny theatre out in the countryside) is close by. They have productions throughout the year and well worth attending if something is playing while staying at the Harbour Inn. Definely my preferred hostelry in the area

The only drawback is the size of the bar area in the Inn. It's quite small and when busy it's difficult to find a seat.

Bedding was clean.

Dated needs painted throughout. Filthy dirty. Crumbs on the benches in the kitchen had to wash cups, plates and glasses before we used them. Not sure when the skirting boards had seen a cloth it certainly wasn’t recently. Had to wash the bath out before we showered the floor needs a good scrub.

Loved the pub was a stone throw away for food. Book in advance.

well located for beach. Very clean.

No freezer at all - not even a small freezer compartment in the quite small fridge - hard to self cater for a week.

The flat is very homely and spotlessly clean as was the bedding and the bathroom. We used the flat as our base to tour the area. It was very quiet at night and parking was easy and ample. We had our little dog with us and it was easy to take her out side for exercise. The restaurant in the hotel that owns the flat does excellent food and the staff are all friendly. I have arthritis and am quite disabled and would have appreciated a fridge that was larger and taller. However, it did not detract from a very comfortable weeklong stay and we will look forward to returning in due course. My wife and I are happy to recommend this property.

Lounge was carpeted so not very dog friendly had to dry the dog before entry, and porch way also carpeted so walking boots had to be removed in small stairwell. Door lock tricky to open too close to door frame. Bathroom fans extremely dirty. Lots of cobwebs. Bedding and towels, we'll equipped kitchen, good WiFi. Poor television reception . Courtesy drinks and toiletries good. Majority of pub/restaurant staff very friendly
