"Perfect little cottage for a getaway from it all for two"

10.0

What a find! This cottage is out in the middle of nowhere - no street lights, no nearby towns, no traffic noise. The house is situated at the end of a ~500m drive, off a very quiet single track road. If you're looking for peace and quiet (and sheep!) this is in an idyllic rural location. There is also ample parking outside the cottage. We visited up in February so didn't spend much time out in the country, but on the one 10km walk we did do we saw maybe 5 cars and a handful of people. Perfect for what we were looking for at the time! The cottage itself is wonderful. Very comfortable relaxing sofa and bed, and very tastefully appointed. Every mod con you can think of (or at least I could). There's even a Qooker tap for on demand boiling water, Prior to the visit, having read some reviews, I was wondering whether the wood burner might be the only source of heat in the cottage. However the main living area has under floor heating, and there are also a few radiators / towel rails around, so absolutely no chance of being left cold here. The wood burner is a fabulous piece of engineering. I have used many before but don't recall them ever being quite this efficient. In no time at all it was kicking out masses of heat, and seemed to work just as well with just one or two big logs rather than many smaller logs. It was also very easy to operate and light. Both the living area and the bedroom are very spacious. The rooms were also spotlessly clean, and there's a very handy ordnance survey map of the area forming a feature wall (although don't trust it for local paths - it seems to be a bit outdated now). There is a dish washer, even a washing machine, a coffee machine, milk frother, full size under-counter freezer and similar sized fridge.

As mentioned by another reviewer this cottage's single toilet room has a door that has no latch. It might stay closed-ish while you're taking care of business - or it might just waft open in a breeze! Some kind of lock on the inside would be useful.

"Overall very good, but no communication with hosts!"

8.0

Location was perfect for what we wanted, which was a quiet place to relax for a couple of days. Kitchen was beautifully fitted with good quality appliances, and the bed was really comfortable with lovely feather pillows and duvet. Everything was warm which was a big plus. Basics were provided, tea, coffee etc and some lovely fresh farm milk in the fridge was a nice touch. Beautiful views!

We found the keys in the door when we arrived, no sign of anyone. The apartment was clean and had obviously been furnished to a high standard apart from a rather tired and uncomfortable sofa. There were only two blocks of wood for the wood burner and no instructions of any kind as to where we could find more. We went to see if we could find a wood store but nothing was obvious, until we eventually found some wood round the back of the property which looked as though it might have belonged to another property, but as there was no-one to ask, we helped ourselves to what was there. We tried the telephone number on the booking form twice but no reply, and no-one got back to us at all during our stay. That said, once it warmed up it was glorious!

"If you want a peaceful break then this is for you!"

Cosy, clean and quiet.

My only criticism would be the rough towels in the bathroom.

"Beautiful Place"

10.0

Everything is well thought out. You can really see the care and attention that has gone into the place. The Host really made it feel like your home. Pro Tip: Don’t use Waze. The easiest way to locate the place is with google maps. Simply enter, Coed Canol Farm, Abergavenny.

"Gorgeous decor, stunning location, cosy and comfortable."

10.0

It was beautifully decorated, comfortable. Had lovely touches like a well equipped kitchen, and books. The outdoor area was lovely with a gorgeous view. It was quite and relaxing, I would highly recommend.

Might be helpful to have a lock on the bathroom door to keep it shut when you’re doing your business, lol, but that might just be me. I’m also unlike most people and am very sensitive to light, so I would suggest bringing a sleep mask as the blinds are thin, but my husband doesn’t find light a problem.

Extremely comfortable and the facilities were excellent. It was very quiet.

Only minor gripe was the wifi signal didn't extend into the bedroom though that may have been my iphone.

Great location, great airbnb! It had everything you needed, a well stocked pantry with tea, coffee, breakfast items and fresh milk from the farm was such a nice bonus! The hosts were incredibly kind and made our stay, even driving us to and back from the wedding we were attending at a nearby venue. Would 100% stay here again.

The mattress was a little hard, but no other negative aspects of the stay.
