The Apartment, 24 West End Terrace, Winchester

The apartment was large and clean. It even included a washing machine. WiFi is available and reliable. The host was quite friendly and also quick to respond to any messages you might send. The last day I had an accident and she was ready to help out. It is located near the city centre where you can find several restaurants and the cathedral. St. Catherine's Hill and the railway station are not far.

This was a very comfortable, compact apartment. It suited our needs perfectly. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside in the little courtyard. It was only a 5minute walk downhill into town, which has a Cathedral and a lovely set of shops. We enjoyed a visit to Hospital St Cross, historic with lovely cake!

I found the walk back up very manageable. My husband however could manage from the great food pub( half way down and back) When we ventured into town together we got a bus back, which was very easy.

Everything, we are repeat visitors and will continue us to return!

LOCATION OK BUT A STEEP WALK FROM THE CITY CENTRE

THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SHOWER WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL

The apartment was clean and had a comfortable bed and a good shower. It was well located 10 minutes walk down the hill to the CBD. Parking is on a narrow street outside but there was always a space.

The bathroom is cut into the bedroom and was very confined. There was nowhere to put our toiletries in the bathroom and little room for our bags in the bedroom. Property best suited to single travelers.

Quiet neighbourhood, close to city centre, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. Ample supplies provided including coffee pods, sugar, tea, dishwasher tabs, detergent, washing machine sachets. Comfy bed, plenty of coat hangers. Good shower, plenty of hot water and good pressure. Modern appliances except for the coffee pod machine which was old and required specific sized pods which were hard to find. The owners bought some for us (and we later reimbursed them) which was much appreciated. No dedicated parking but with the permit arranged by the owners we never had a problem finding a park. The road is quite busy during the day but quiet at night. Terrace to sit outside.

We like to have fresh air in places we stay but the only way to do this was to open the front door. The windows are on the street and not sufficiently secure to keep open. While the terrace is pleasant and reasonably private there’s no protection from rain or sun. The cold water side of the kitchen tap was not working properly. Was hard to turn on and to get any real flow of water. Had to use two hand to regulate the flow of the tap. Bathroom sink is very tiny. Needs another hook in the bathroom so two towels can be hung up. Needs more shelves to put things in the bathroom. No fish/egg slice. Quite a common thing in most apartments we’ve stayed at and I’m not sure why they are in most cases not supplied. Owners live next door and apartment set up (locked connecting door with not very good sound proofing) so that we could hear them….which meant they could hear us. As a rule we do not like to stay at places where owners are as we like our total privacy. This situation wasn’t too bad though.

The apartment was really clean and comfortable. Great instructions for all appliances. Washing machine was a wonderful bonus. We were able to get parking in the street. The walk down to the town centre was quite pleasant. The lounge was very comfy. Instructions for access were clear

Location. Short walk to City centre, Cathedral and train station. St James Tavern is a great, welcoming little pub with superb food. Apartment has everything needed if you wanted to stay in and cook.

Would have preferred the terrace area to be completely fenced in with a gate for access for total privacy.
