The Water Shack - Amazing tiny house retreat

We were really looking forward to our stay, and nearly didn’t make it due to a family emergency. Thankfully we got there in the end, and we were not disappointed. Enhanced by fantastic weather, we had a thoroughly relaxing couple of nights in unique, rustic accommodation in a tranquil location. Peaceful day and night, this is like having all the best bits of camping, but with a flushing toilet, hot running water and a warm dry bed to get into! No Wi-Fi, tv or light pollution, just lazing around, laying in the hammock, watching and listening to the wildlife, cooking on the fire pit, taking in the sunset, and then watching the stars appear whilst taking a bath out on the deck.

Great choice of beers and good food at the Low House in the village. Although only a short walk away, a bit hairy due to a winding road with no footpaths. Wouldn’t recommend the walk in the dark.

A recluse little space in the peace and quiet of proper English Countryside. Anything you need is less than 10 minutes away, but other than that; enjoy sunsets that send a peaceful calm across your patio, and stars that seem to twinkle just for you. To note, John was wonderfully accommodating - a great host.

We had an incredible stay at the water shack for new years Eve. John met us there and was really friendly and gave us good advice for local walks. The shack was amazing so incredibly made by John, really warm and cosy in minus degrees! It was so peaceful and quiet there but still really close to a few towns with pubs and shops. Can't wait to go back and stay in summer and experience it in warm weather too!

Unique place, very comfortable, friendly host.

The Shack is beautifully constructed by shipbuilder John, who was there to welcome us on arrival. He'd even left us a bottle of prosecco and some milk in the fridge. The outdoor bath was perfect, loads nicer than a hot tub, and the double hammock was just the thing for stargazing. Well equipped and so warm. The eco aircon works like a dream. Nice location for exploring.
