33 Star Apartment

The property was close to town and local sights. There was good heating in the cooler weather.

The owners arrived after dark at the front door to take payment via an EFTPOS machine which was unexpected as we assumed payment was managed by booking.com. There was a washing machine, but no dyer which in the cold weather was not very useful. The internet was intermittent and unusable. Bathroom tiles were slippery after a shower and created a fall hazard for people using the bathroom. The Oven glass door is not securely fixed in place, which creates possible hazard if oven is opened too fast. Some guest rules seemed unnecessary, including not being able to wear shoes inside due to “bitumen from road outside which may melt onto shoes”. Very odd.

Good location within 5 mins walk of centre of Tekapo. Off-street parking for one car. Comfortable and clean accomodation with two toilets and two showers.

The only thing that was tricky was the door locking mechanism which was slightly odd from the inside but easy once you had figured it out.

Very comfortable and spacious with great facilities.

Firstly it is a very nice place, and really well set up for short term stay. Overall I thought it was great. But: The cleaning product used on the floors was dangerous. I strained a muscle in my back trying to stay upright after slipping stepping into the shower. All the floors are dangerously slippery and felt wet and sticky for most of the time we were there. After booking we got multiple messages from the hosts saying to be sure to close all windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out. Rather than invest in fly screens the owners insist that guests keep the doors and windows closed which is unpleasant. My understanding of what is termed an “extra large double bed” is a king size bed. The beds in the apartment are queen sized. This is usually advertised as a “large double bed”. Being taller I use this as a criteria when booking places to stay. So I was disappointed to find that the bed sizes did not match the descriptions.

Spacious , clean , great to have 3 bed with 3 bathroom. Easy check in . Nice bedding and towels. Good facilities ie Dyson hairdryer, washing machine, big fridge, coffee machine

Couldn’t use the tv because of very poor wifi , obviously connected to multiple houses which meant peak times meant no wifi at all.

3 bedroom apartment with ensuite bathrooms. Comfortable, warm and sunny. Managed by property company in Tekapo which payment is direct to them not via booking.com. Basics included tea, coffee. Nothing more.
