Rosenhof Garden Cottage

This is one of the more difficult reviews I've done; really it ought to be two reviews, one excellent and one not so good. There were three of us, a couple and a single, and on first arrival we were placed in an annex to the main manor house which was OK, but only just. The issues were the design- you have to go through a bathroom to get to the main bedroom, and the electrics, which were eccentric, and not only because of SA's endemic load-shedding. Wi-fi and TV were both patchy, needing a booster which wasn't always effective. After two nights we were offered a move to the Manor House section, which we accepted gratefully. Talk about chalk and cheese! This is a beautiful old Victorian house, well maintained, and tastefully furnished. Bedrooms and bathrooms were huge and comfortable, and the house can be separated into two apartments if necessary. Electricity, TV and Wi-fi were perfect. We used the braai facility next to the pool and sipped good wine on the lovely old verandah, listening to the local bird life in the trees above. We could easily have stayed for longer. Owner and staff were helpful in the extreme, doing what they could to deal with the electrical issues, and giving good guidance on local attractions. The premises contain a number of very different accommodation options which we didn't see. I think there are some outside apartments, suitable for singles or couples, and there are also some more modern wooden chalets on the property. The manor is special, and the annex would be a useful addition for a large family gathering, particularly with the pool and lapa arrangement below.

We completely loved our stay at Rosenhof Garden Cottage !! Everything was perfect ! Before our arrival, Karen contacted me to give me all the information we needed to enjoy Cederberg and the surrounding area. She was incredibly kind, always available if we needed something. From the activities, to the restaurants, we had all the best adresses to make the best of it. We were a group of 5 girls. The kitchen is well equipped and we even had some coffee, cereals, milk and tea if needed. One of the lady working there made us some special bread to welcome us. It was delicious. You can find all the amenities you need and more, from the hair dryer to the bed warmer. All the bed are confortable and the bathroom are great. The pool, bar and outside area were super cool to chill. We even had a Netflix movie night with the TV in the living room. The dogs staying in the garden are very cute. We played with them and enjoyed the trampoline. We were also able to make a lemonade with the lemons and the mint. We totally recommend this place!! You even have a supermarket next to it, great restaurants for brunch and Rooibos tasting just next to it.

Everything was lovely. The 2-bedroom garden cottage nice but we were offered the Manor House instead and took it. exceptionally comfortable!

Friendly staff and clean accommodation. I would definitely visit again especially for the homemade bread. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Very helpful host, good facilities, swimming pool, BBQ, fridge and freezer. Secure. Netflix on TV. Battery backup for load shedding. Able to shop at local supermarket. Fresh bread made for us on arrival. Local town good place to wander around. Prison museum interesting. Able to go to local rooibos tea plantation for a visit which was well worth it. Sadly we had to miss the cave paintings and caves. Route there was spectacular. Good to have friendly dogs on site. Insecticide available indoors.

I got bitten by insects but was the only one of the group to do so. Got ointment from pharmacy.
