Mack n Tosh - Lake Tekapo

Loved my time here. Check in and out at the Godley Hotel was easy; once you walk through the main doors you'll see the counter and the friendly staff for Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes almost immediately. Tucked just slightly at the edge of the town centre, easy nice walk through the neighbourhood past the petting zoo or 2-min drive. Very quiet and nice surroundings. The deck, living room and kitchen really gives you a nice unblocked view of Lake Tekapo, perfect for sunrise or sunset watching. Clean and tidy, everything you need is provided for a comfortable stay. Kitchen was well equipped so you could do cooking if needed. Electric blanket was very useful for the cold nights. Parking my car was no problem. Just note there is a paved path and steps up to the unit so just a consideration for accessibility needs. Had no issues with bringing my heavy luggage up.

The location is beautiful and that’s what you’re paying for. The property was ok, bathroom needs some attention i.e sealant around the shower and paint peeling from the ceiling. Bed wasn’t particularly comfortable. You have to collect the key and take it back to a hotel in the town. Property is approximately 1km from town so it is walkable to bars and restaurants. My main problem with the property is the building site meters from the back of it. Diggers and other equipment really did ruin the peace and enjoyment of the lake views. It would have been nice if the property managers had given us the heads up regarding this. Final note: air con is just in living area. This didn’t bother us as it wasn’t needed.

The crockery was cracked, it needs to be replaced. There was only one wine glass. Otherwise everything was great.

This was a beautiful well maintained property in a great location. The views were spectacular and only a short distance drive from town. Facilities were the best on our trip, nice bathroom products and a great shower. Loved our stay would definitely recommend.

The view

This is not a 4 star accommodation! 2 stars at best! The mattress was old and very uncomfortable. No shampoo! No napkins! The couch was very old and uncomfortable! This place was like staying in a garden shed! Not one picture on the walls. The pots and pans were horrible! The fan in the bathroom had so much lint and dirt it made my stomach turn. The shower had mold around the base! No TV in the bedroom! The guy at the reception desk would not let my wife use the restroom he directed to to the pay toilets down the street. The entry to the place was a joke! Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else this place was a huge disappointment

The view was superb ! Could see the lake while sitting on the balcony. Perfect for relaxing after a day walking. Location was excellent walking distance to shops and bars. Large comfortable unit, very clean and lovely powerful shower.

We couldn’t get the volume on the television to go down, no matter what we did. So didn’t put it on as we didn’t want to disturb the neighbours. Also a shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries on would have been good. Other than that it was all good.

Great view and outside of the main street of the village. The kitchen was well equipped. The appartment was spaceful and clean. It had all we needed.

Comfortable. Great views.
