Fantastic sun rise views and close to Zakros gorge Really liked community feel of village and how helpful people were.

Kato Zakros doesn’t have a mimi market so you need to come with supplies like coffee.

The house is well-equipped. The views are great and it's really quiet. It was great to be able to use the washing machine! There's lots of private outdoor space. Simple breakfast was provided. The taverna options are good (but see below).

It's at least a 20 minute walk from the beach and tavernas. Uphill coming back! We were 2 friends, so needed separate rooms- the second one is only separated by a curtain and blinds, not walls and a door, which wasn't ideal. Also, the bathroom door jammed shut the first time we used it so we couldn't shut it after that (hopefully that's been fixed now).

Our stay at Kato Zakros was excellent. The house is very comfortable. Everything is in excellent condition. The landscape is magnificent. We would like to thank Marianna, our hostess, for her warm hospitality and kindness.

Anthia's is a small house set in stunning hills overlooking sea, outside seating in 2 places, mosquito door cover & on windows, air con available, hot water plenty via solar panels, washing machine in bathroom, outside washing line at back, shower fine although water splashes on floor, kitchen/diner/sitting room has 4 steps up onto mezanine floor to 2 bedrooms, bathroom and back door, king size bed comfy, double wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables each side of beds, mirror on wall, electric fan on ceiling, bedside lamps in both rooms, other bedroom has 2 singles & bedside table, & chest of drawers, clean house, plenty crockery, cutlery, cooking pans, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, electric cooker, large fridge freezer, table & 4 chairs in kitchen, tv, WIFI, loads of kitchen cupboard space, sofa in kitchen/diner/sitting room, shoe rack fireplace for winter, huge kitchen window with great views and overall a super house. Parking below, on private road then about 13 steps up towards house then another maybe 5 steps to house. Note partly dirt road from village up to house so a bit rocky. Anthia's house is set at top of hill next to family member house, although away when we were there, and there are a handful of houses on the way up the road and one further up on a different road. Very delightful and enjoyable place to be on holiday.... a few dogs do bark down below in other houses and there are 2 lovely friendly visiting cats. The hostess is a super lady, helpful, friendly and amenable. We loved this place. Just great for a couple. Seaside down in village with several tavernas all good, however, note beach is pebbles so waders advised. Try Agrigiado Taverna who provides sun loungers & umbrellas free to customers, & local food good. Car necessary here. Gorgeous white sand beaches nearby,like Xerocambos.

Not much to dislike although the shower head could do with a shower wall bracket - but nothing major.

Perfect appartment. No one was in the houses nearby when we were there. We spent our mornings and evenings alone on the terrace with an absolutely beautiful view. Marianna was a very friendly host. The Zakros Gorge is a great hike. If you hike back along the rim, you end up right at the appartment. Great taverns at the beach.

The road to the appartment was partially gravel and quite steep. No issue for experienced drivers though.

Perfect for us. Marianna is the perfect host. Friendly, efficient and above all, a baker of cakes. We loved the location. Quiet, great views, plenty of outside chairs and tables from which to read and take in the views. Also a nice little walk down to the beach / taverna area. We loved the coastal walks and two variations of the Gorge of the Dead just adjacent. Supermarket up the hill in Zakros.
