Ocean View Paradise!

Troy was an awesome host that made sure we had everything we needed and went beyond (provided fins, snorkels etc). The night sky here was beautiful as well

Shower is outside, wasn’t a big deal for me but can get cold sometimes

Troy offered to cook breakfast, but I am not a breakfast eater so declined the offer.

A bit far away from everything!

This was a clean, well maintained property in a quiet location with a very helpful host. This property is in a relatively remote location, away from the crowded resorts. Despite the quiet location, there are restaurants, grocery stores and a service station nearby. The owner, Troy, is so accommodating. He will loan you a cooler or beach gear to use on your outings. Our focus was on hiking in the Kahuku Unit of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Troy’s property was just a few minutes drive from the Park, so it worked well for us.

I was skeptical about the outdoor shower, but it ended up working out just fine.

It was perfect for what we needed. Boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach towels and blankets, chairs, coolers. We didn’t need to bring anything. The property can get windy being on a high plain near the ocean, so bring some warm clothes for the evening and mornings. The hot tub was awesome. The view of the stars was great and even better from the front driveway area.

There isn’t a kitchen for the two bedroom unit, I don’t know about the one bedroom. We made our food using the grille and washed using the spigot near the outdoor shower. It’s not that we didn’t like it but others may not appreciate the experience.

I booked the two bedrooms. This location is very good for me to visit the Hawaii Volcano National park. A few scenic places are nearby as well. There are two grocery stores 5 min away. Coffee shop and restaurants are 5 min away. For the national parks lover, one entrance of the national park is 15 min away and the other visitor center is about 1 hour. The host is the best, he was very helpful to introduce us the beach for snorkeling for free and only 5 dollars parking fee. There is a market on the weekend, someone with a truck possible sells really fresh fish caught same day or the day before. Someone was selling very interesting fruits and foods as well. Oh, my, I will stay in the same place next time. The well water Host supplied was so tasty...I felt regret that I should have stayed there longer.

The water from tap is just for washing not for drinking. Host supplied the well water to meet the need. I hope I could use kitchen to cook or boil a fast noodle. I did not ask, and I was allowed to grill though. The shower room is outside of the suite, it took me a while to get used to it.
