Ideally placed for spotting the Quetzal, this is a no frills, value for money, option that will suit the budget conscience birder. With Marlen's restaurant only 5 minutes walk away there is also no need to cook for yourself, although the option is available, providing you shop before descending 7 km down the challenging road into the valley bottom.

The metal container core of the lodge was very cold at night so bring warm night clothes or thermal underwear.

Great little house, easy to find, very friendly hosts. They have taken us up the hill in the morning so we could see quetzal & we did 😀. Would 100% recommend

Perfect location right in nature

8 degrees celcius without any possibility to heat up. Didn’t meet the landlord and asked several times how to pay in cash.

Best little house just next to a tree where you can see quetzals every morning. Guests from other properties from all over san gerado come here to see quetzals. Owners are super lovely. Book it!

There was no nice chair to sot inside

Wonderful, peaceful location right by the river, and with a nice walking trail. The cabin had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Antony even met us at 6am to show us a quetzal on the farm, and we also saw a quetzal and lots of hummingbirds from the kitchen window.

The hutch is placed in a spectacular location. Although fairly small, it has everything one needs. Great place for observation of birds and the river close by is very nice

The hotel is located in heavily wooded area with a lot of birds and wildlife. My wife wanted to shoot a bird called Quetzal. She had read that this property had a few Quetzals in the woods nearby. They are shy birds so they are very hard to spot. The host did help my wife to find one bird high up in the tree. Earlier that day, my wife went with another guide to spot some Quetzals, so she had a few good pictures. There is a good restaurant within a short driving distance from the property. They serve good meals at reasonable prices.

The exterior of the cabin is very colorful. The inside is good. There were two beds in two sleeping areas and a kitchen with a dining table and bar stool height chairs. We had bought some fruits and eggs on our way to this property so we could boil eggs for breakfast. The kitchen is good for a cabin in the woods.

If you are looking for quetzals this is the place to be. We had four different sightings in three days and took pictures and videos. Our hosts were really welcoming and showed us round the property which is extensive and contains trails to waterfalls and surrounding mountains. Good training for Parque Nacional Chirripó! The property was well equipped and the bed very comfortable.

The shower was very temperamental! To much flow and the heating cut out and too little and the flow would suddenly stop.
