Casa Donna Franca

The place is situated in the enchanting medieval town of Castiglione di Sicilia. It really is a unique experience to stay in such a place, but at times quite challenging to get around with a car since Google Maps does not seem to work well here. Be aware that if you make one wrong move in those little alleyways you need to be ready to do quite a bit of special manoeuvres to get back out. The lady who greeted us was very courteous and helpful and the property owner was prompt in answering any queries between the time of booking and our arrival. The apartment itself was good and spacious even though the layout is a bit weird. The plus is the big terrace with a view of the castle as well as the surrounding countryside, where you can enjoy a lovely breakfast, meal or glass of wine. Parking was not a problem in a public square about 2 mins walk away. We visited in March which is not a peak season so this may be different for other months.

To be honest I was expecting a bit more from this place after seeing the listing. It was good overall, however I was expecting just a bit more wow. It was also missing a few basic items you would expect to find at self catering apartment, like for example, a kettle and a couple wine glasses (though not a necessity) would have been nice. It did however have a great capsule coffee machine.

The house was clean and spacious.

A bit cold and hot water not hot enough

The apartment had everything that one needs. iIt was cozy, comfortable, good mattress for sleep, and of course the wonderful terraces with breathtaking view. Rita, our contact person, was really nice, welcoming and helpful.

I liked everything.

The street was too narrow to park, so we parked nearby next to the Castle (easy walk up to property). The balcony was exceptional with an amazing view. The facilities were excellent, comfortable and peaceful. Kitchen and bathroom were great and exactly what was required.

Nothing to improve. Access was not suitable for wheelchairs which did not affect us. Could not park directly outside but this is to be expected in a remote sicillian village.
