Il Carmine Charme & Terrace with AC

We liked the feeling that you jumped back in time with exquisitely renovated fireplace/ cooking space, the view making you feel part of the Italian community. Carmine reminds you of the rich history of Lucca. Everything is walking distance and we couldn't help faling in love with Lucca.

Francesco went above and beyond all other hosts - collected us from the train station and drove us to the apartment and then returned us to the train station. The apartment was much bigger than expected and was in a perfect location. Francesco gave us lots of information of places to visit and eat at during our stay. Everything was absolutely perfect for us.

Its authenticity and the ease of communication with the owner, including the issue of a permit to drive within the walls to unload/load our luggage

Running out of toilet paper at an inconvenient time and not knowing where to any spare) other than later going down from 3rd floor to the supermarket next door to acquire some)

Location was excellent in the heart of Lucca. The host was very helpful in getting us into the city due to the challenges with driving in the walled city. He also helped with the luggage up the stairs.

Beds could have been a bit more comfortable. Kitchen equipment (pots/pans) and coffee maker could do with being renewed.

Francesco the host was very helpful and communicative right from the point of booking and even beyond our stay. He was generous with his knowledge of the area itself, and of our next destination. The property itself has a lovely balcony - a very welcome chance to enjoy an evening breeze outdoors and in comfort.

Not a dislike. It something for travellers to be aware of. Three long flights of stairs to get to the apartment.

The location was great, very central and there's a carpark for the supermarket that is in the square. The apartment was very generous in size, comfortable and not noisy. Francesco is a great host, very kind and a fountain of knowledge - very kindly suggested a number of places we could visit outside Lucca, as well as helped us with all our bags (there is no lift and it's up quite a few flights of stairs so worth considering mobility issues when booking - not a problem for us with our 4 year old.) The apartment itself is charming - felt like a home away from home and we really enjoyed eating our meals out on the terrace and relaxing in the living room with the windows open to hear the sounds of the city/diners downstairs (recommend a meal at the restaurant too - v family friendly and reasonably priced). Stay here if you want to experience Lucca like a local. Would definitely come back

Very central and a beautiful apartment. Very clean. Beautiful old features. Lovely outside balcony. Francesco is very friendly and helpful and obviously takes great pride in his building. There is also a handy supermarket next door and a fantastic restaurant just outside the main building's front door. The apartment is very quiet even though it's only a couple of minutes' walk to the main eating and shopping areas, including the ampitheatre.

There are a lot of stairs up to the apartment (though we knew that in advance). Wifi out on the balcony is sporadic.

Beautiful large apartment, very well appointed. We were a family of five and it was easily large enough for us. Excellent location close to the centre of Lucca, and right next door to a Supermarket. We would stay here again.

The apartment is in a historic building with plenty of quirky features. It was spacious and comfortable for a family of 4 adults with a great shower room. I booked it specifically for the lovely terrace, central location and flexible sleeping spaces. It felt very secure. Small grocery store a few steps away. Despite the central location, the apratment and terrace were surpirsingly quiet. Just keep the windows closed at night to avoid the noise of the early rubbish collectors. Francesco was extremely helpful and accessible. He offered to collect us from the rail station which was extremely welcome in July tempeartures. The walk is not that far though and easy to navigate with google. We were also able to leave our luggage safely on the day of departure.

There was nothing not to like and I would definitely book again! If I was being picky, I would ask for some more comfortable chairs for the terrace & dining. Hard to lounge!
