Il Carmine Charme & Terrace with AC

It is a gracious apartment full of character, so we really felt we were in old Italy. The terrace is a great feature with lovely views across the rooftops and wonderful for relaxing. The location is right in the centre and everything is in easy walking distance. Our host came and met us and was charming and very helpful. The apartment was clean and well equipped.

We would have appreciated a small tumble drier, fortunately the weather was warm so this was a very minor issue.

The location, the size of rooms and the number of rooms. The terrace, the cleanliness, the furniture, the restoration and much more. Francesco was an outstanding host and went beyond expectations in welcoming us and ‘looking out’ for us. He collected me from the train station and made sure everything was explained and provided.

Host picked us up from the train station and dropped us back at the end of our stay Host provided recommendations on where to eat and kept us informed regarding arrangements for an annual local celebration which was taking place during our stay

Not a problem for us but bear in mind you need to be in good health and able to manage lots of stairs!

We have been travelling now for about 5 weeks through France and Italy. Francesco has been the most wonderful host we have had the pleasure of meeting. He was very responsive, he picked us up from the train station and dropped us back at the train station when we left. He went above and beyond carrying our suitcases up the stars to what was a magnificent unique apartment with a lot of history attached. Comfortable beds and the apartment was spotlessly clean with everything (and more) you would need for a holiday and a lovely balcony. We would certainly love to stay here again if we had the chance. Our host Francesco went above and beyond any service I've received in all my years of travelling. We chose to stay inside the walled city so we had to park outside the walls as you're not able to drive in as a tourist. Francesco advised us where we could park without having to pay, he then met us there and took us to the apartment by car. He helped us take in our luggage and gave us a comprehensive tour of the apartment. He advised us on restaurants and gave us other useful tips. We found the apartment very well located and close to all of the main attractions. It was convenient to have a small supermarket very close to where we were staying. Finally, my friend left a sentimental necklace behind in the apartment and Francesco went above and beyond to find it and return it to us. I will definitely be going back with my husband the next time we're in Tuscany.

Beautiful apartment in the centre of town. Spacious and airy. Great location, central but quiet. Francesco was the perfect host. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Francesco was incredibly helpful and was in constant contact before and during our brief stay in Lucca providing links to restaurants and sites to visit. Driving within the walls of Lucca is tricky and there are also restrictions. Francesco very kindly recommended parking outside the walls and then collected us and our bags and drove us in. The apartment is in a beautiful old building, is a great size and well stocked in a great central location.

The apartment is on the top floor and there is no lift. If you struggle with lots of steps then it might be something to consider. We had no problem though.

Very conveniently located and well equiped However if you are going there by car, definitely coordinate with the friendly owner Francesco or else it is easy to get lost/stuck in the narrow one way streets. He is always ready to help. Well worth it as long as the stairs don't bother you.
