Penthouse Alentejana

The apartment was close to the town and we really liked the cafes and restaurants in town. The apartment had two equal size bedrooms which was good and an excellent terrace area.

The apartment felt unloved. A long list of things that should be better includes: 1 there is a mismatch between the address given and the correct address - a map could be useful; 2 there was no book of house instructions and guidance as to where to go; 3 the shower did not stay up properly; 4 the store cupboard was a mess and had a bad smell; 5 there was no recycling system; 6 the kitchen was not well organised and some non-stick pans were scratched; 7 the terrace was very nice but had redundant bits of furnishings and really needed repainting.

It has a nice spacious living area and the terrace gets plenty of sun, but has shade for the table so it is lovely to eat outside. The location is pretty much at the entrance of the town, which is good if you plan to drive to one of the main beaches, but a good 20 mins on foot to the main centre and river beach. It was quiet and stayed cool even when it was very hot outside. There are a couple of OK small supermarkets and good bakeries nearby. Parking is easy but EV charging points are 10-20 mins walk.

Bad start with nobody to meet us and no reply to messaging or phone calls, but they did turn up eventually. There is no microwave, which I find very useful on holiday. The washing machine is confusing as it switches on when the button is OUT, but then does nothing, so you wait for several minutes and open and close the door and it eventually starts...

Good sized property in easy walking distance to all parts of town. The rooftop area was excellent.

Only negative would be the towelling and bed linen definitely need updated. Clean but clearly old. Also lacked the basics such as sufficient toilet paper, soap and washing up liquid.

The space is beautiful, the furniture is high quality and the kitchen is fabulously well equipped. The terrace is gorgeous and the beds very comfy. A total winner, I can't wait to go back!

Nothing, loved it all.

On arrival our host showed us into the apartment and informed us of all the facilities that were available. The apartment was spotlessly clean and equiped with everything that you could want during your stay and there was even a bottle of wine to welcome us which was a lovely touch. In terms of local facilities, shops were plentiful and varied, from supermarkets to clothes shops and even a surfing shop should the urge take you, we really didn't need to venture far to find anything we needed. Also the river and beach were within easy walking distance. Finally the flat was very quiet and peaceful and we had a very relaxing time and really enjoyed the terrace area which provided a private area to enjoy the sun. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back soon.

Having to leave. It was great. Other than that nothing to complain about.
