The property is on the ground floor and has beautiful exposed beams in the ceiling. Because of those two factors, there was noise coming from above when someone was walking around on the floor above or speaking. That is, if the beams had been covered with a ceiling and insulation stuffed in between it would have been a bit quieter (although not as attractive as having the beams exposed).
