Het appartement staat op een hele goede locatie, dichtbij de bezienswaardigheden en cafés/restaurants. Groot pluspunt is de parkeerplek op het eigen terrein. Verder is het appartement goed uitgerust. De host is erg vriendelijk en heel erg behulpzaam.

De slaapkamer was aan een drukke weg waardoor het erg roemoerig was.

Hostiteľka bola veľmi milá a komunikácia v angličtine prebiehala úplne bez problémov. Veľkou výhodou je parkovanie v súkromnom dvore, takže sme sa nemuseli obávať o auto. Bezpečnosť bola na vysokej úrovni – vstup do objektu aj ubytovania bol riešený cez viacero dverí a zámkov. Nevýhodou môže byť mierne zvýšený hluk z ulice, no na kvalite pobytu to výrazne neubralo. Poloha je skutočne úžasná – veľmi blízko ostrova Ortigia, kam sa dá prejsť pohodlne pešo. V okolí bolo množstvo kaviarní a reštaurácií, takže stravovanie sme mali poriešené bez komplikácií. Pripojenie na internet bolo rýchle a stabilné. Celkovo sme boli so všetkým spokojní.

Built in 1940 and owned by the lovely Sicilian family, this apartment is a living piece of Syracuse’s history - preserved not as a museum piece, but as a space that breathes with quiet dignity and charm. The authentic wooden windows frame the Sicilian light just right, while the high ceilings lend every room a sense of ease and air - the kind of space that makes you want to slow down, pour a glass of local wine, and simply exist. The decor is thoughtful, never pretentious; vintage posters from the Greek Theatre of Syracuse hang on the walls, subtle hints at the cultural refinement of the family behind the place. Caterina, who together with her husband keeps this apartment’s spirit alive, met us with the kind of effortless grace you can’t fake. Elegant, warm, and speaking flawless English, she made sure we were settled and cared for - no fuss, no formality, just genuine hospitality. Every restaurant she recommended was excellent: seafood so fresh it practically winked at you, pizza that could silence a room, and traditional Sicilian dishes that reminded you why this island has always been a crossroads of flavor and soul. The location? Perfect. A short walk from Piazzale Marconi, where cafés serve cornetti, cannoli, and bomboloni that could make you weep with joy, and just minutes from Ortigia, the historical heart of Syracuse. Now, about the noise. Some reviewers complain about the sounds of the city. To them, I’d say: what did you expect? This is Sicily - vibrant, alive, unapologetic. If you crave silence, maybe try a monastery in Tibet. For me, the soundtrack of the city - the hum of traffic, the laughter echoing off stone walls, the morning greetings of old men guarding their melon stands - is what makes the place real. I loved living in that rhythm. Watching the escargot vendors guarding their buckets like treasure, old friends bantering on sunbaked corners, everyone shouting “Buongiorno!” as if to remind you that life, here, still happens out loud.
