Maddalena House

Friendly host. Great location. Comfortable apartment. Charming small village.

The apartment was a perfect size for us and had everything we needed, even if we wanted to cook dinner. It may seem insignificant, but I was so happy with the bathroom fixtures that were all new and worked well! Nothing leaked or was loose. The kitchen was well stocked and even had a stovetop pressure cooker, big refrigerator and freezer. Also a large set of dishes and cutlery. We made use of the washing machine and we walked just across the alley to use the driers of the laundromat when it was raining. Otherwise, we could hang the clothes out to dry. The whole place is well cared for and the hostess had lots of information for our stay, including restaurants and places to go. She checked on us to make sure we were doing well. We would love to stay here again.

We liked the central location during the day, but sometimes in the evenings, there was noise from the restaurants in the square. It quieted down, though, and we had a good night’s sleep.

Great location. Right in the heart of the town. The place is very clean and well-appointed. The host Marilena picked us from the train station and hired a taxi to take us to the station on the day of departure because she was out of town. That was super nice of her!

The town square below the apartment can be a little noisy at the height of the tourist season, but we adjusted fine.

Our host collected us at the train station and brought us to her lovely apartment Maddalena House which was perfectly located in the town square for access to restaurants, lake shore and villas. Maddalena House is spotless with everything required to make a perfect holiday. Our host guided us to everything within the apartment and town in order to make our stay a great experience. Everything is very comfortable and cosy with a great shower too and we were shown TV channels that had English speaking movies to chill out in front of after the day’s adventures in beautiful Varenna. A perfect little apartment in a perfect location. We were close to a great little shop, bakery wine shop and restaurant. And at the end of our holiday our host brought us back to the train station.

We had a wonderful stay at this Airbnb! The house was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the environment was so comfortable and cozy. The host was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. We truly appreciated their hospitality and would highly recommend staying here.

Very pleasant days spent at Maddalena House. Excelent location ,nearby a pizzeria,restaurants,gelateria,grocery and 2 min.walk to vila Monastero and vila Cipressi. A very clean house,with all the things you would need. I couldn't have asked for more. And Marilena is the true treasure! A hard working little lady,for each of us to have a wonderful time in Varenna. She will waiting for you at the railway station when you arrive and drive you when you leave. She'll give you recommendation where to eat,or not,from where to buy food,or not. Very precious things,and helpful,when you are in a foreign country or city. Thank you very much Marilena for your hospitality and for your respect for the tourists!

Marilena was great,lifted us from the train station and give us a quick tour of the town. Apartment was very clean and had everything you could need for your stay. The location of the apartment is excellent,close to ferry and train station and restaurants.

Nothing to dislike

The apartment was located very close to the town square and had lots of space and the host was very friendly and accommodating. She picked us up and dropped us off at the train station and gave us a little tour of town on our arrival. She even took our clothes off the clothesline when we were out and a storm was approaching. It was within easy walking of restaurants as well as the Lake Como ferries.

Marilena was lovely and collected and returned us to the station without us asking. Her apartment is in a lovely location just off the central square with easy access to all the restaurants and bars. We were lucky enough to be there for an Abba concert in the square which was great fun. Her Italian hospitality is impeccable.

Unfortunately despite Marilena house rules the previous occupants had been smoking which even though Marilena had cleaned throughout the smell for us as non smokers lingered This was not her fault at all but her guests. All

Marilena was very friendly and helpful. Excellent location in the central Piazza that was busy during daytime but quiet at night. Easy 10 minute walks to the regular Lake ferries and the railway station. Excellent restaurants at Nilus on the lakeside and Al Prato for something special.

The two flights of stairs kept us fit!
