Villa Matilde Amalfi

Luigi, our host, was amazing and was there for us whenever we needed him. He helped us with tours and any questions we had. The view from our rooms was beautiful and the apartment had a rustic feel.

Nothing - other than it was in Amalfi.

Beware - Not just a terrible apartment and misleading description, but you may get sued! First, the conclusion: 1) We left the apartment half way through our planned stay for a much better accommodation at almost half the nightly price. 2) After I complained about the accommodations and told the owner that I thought the advertising for the apartment was extremely misleading, he said "the price is the price" and then threatened to "sue me for slander." I have no desire or need to lie about (slander) the owner. I will only describe the apartment from our perspective relative to how it was advertised. I am providing the below so that others who spend their hard earned savings and limited free time do not feel cheated. Perhaps there are some that will read the below and still choose to stay in this apartment. The facts: 1. The apartment cost us $3,700 for 8 nights; this, in itself, set certain expectations. 2. When we first arrived, the owner claimed that we still owed him several hundred dollars which we needed to pay "in cash." We booked on booking.com and paid in full ahead of time. Why would the owner claim that we still owed him money? Why did we need to pay him in cash? 3. The pictures off the balcony and from the "garden" are taken from approximately waist level, which eliminates seeing the very large building that blocks much of the view of the sea. The building blocking the view is poorly maintained and dilapidated. You can see pictures on Google Maps. 3. The owner claims that the apartment has A/C. The A/C is only in one of the rooms and if you want both bedrooms to be cooled, you need to keep the door between the two bedrooms completely open. This means there is no privacy. Additionally, the room with the AC becomes cold while the other bedroom is barely cool. 4. In order to get to the bathroom from the room with the large bed, you need to go through the bedroom with the two beds.

Villa Mathilde was a wonderful respite from the bustle of the town center. The large balcony overlooking the sea was a magical way to begin and end our days. Our host, Luigi, was knowledgeable, warm, and so helpful with transportation and advice. He is simply delightful and made out stay so enjoyable.

Be prepared for many steps to get to and from the property.

Luigi was a super host with lots of great suggestions and was very responsive to any querys or questions we had. Really helped make the visit a success.

If you are a nervous driver, Amalfi and its cliff edged hairpin bends might not be for you.

Luigi is an exceptional host, very friendly and provided lots of useful information! The view from the room was breathtaking! The breakfast items provided were a nice touch! Thanks Luigi!

Quiet location, great view, free parking, helpful and responsive host. Very clean.

Bed was hard and not very comfortable, 113 steps to access property making it unsuitable for people with impaired mobility or low fitness, expecially if carrying heavy luggage.

The property was well-equipped with a stove, fridge, and washer. It had a beautiful view over the Amalfi Coast on the patio.

The property is a bit hard to get to, but the hosts are very helpful in navigating the area!

If you want use bus this amazing home is not good offer for you but on other hands everything was perfect

The view from the house is wonderful! The host was always available for whatever was needed

Perhaps a less positive point: there was no information in the house about public transport
