La Casina di Elena, Romantic Apartment in San Gimignano

Perfectly located and beautiful apartment in the middle of San Gimignano. The apartment is spacious and well equipped, and Elda was a brilliant host.

The neighbours were busy with renovations, which was very noisy. This was not within Elda's control- just unfortunate that we were there during this time.

this is a perfect place in a perfect location. we could not ask for more! highly reomended for anyone visiting San Gimignano or its vicinity

Location is very well placed, closed to Cisterna Square, comfortable, equipped with stove, cutlery, microvawe etc The appartment is cozy and you can reach immediately all important points of the city

Really nothing

It was an amazing apartment, a great place to stay at an amazing location. The rooms were colourful, nice and clean. The host was really nice, responsive at all times and helpful!

No airconditioning, but it was fine because there were fans in every room.

This was a rare find. A beautiful apartment in the centre of one of the nicest Italian towns I’ve been to. We initially booked for 2 nights, ended up staying 2 extra nights and would have stayed longer if it wasn’t reserved for another couple. We were sad to leave, it was like a home from home. When you step outside you are a few paces from beautiful cafes and restaurants. The Duomo is essentially on your doorstep but the apartment is tucked away in the corner so it is quiet and comfortable. It is also an excellent location to explore the surrounding Tuscan countryside. In fact the town gets really busy with day-trippers from Florence and Siena so at around 10-11 am we often left to explore the countryside or other towns. However having a coffee in the morning at 8am you feel like you have this beautiful town to yourself. At night the people to stay nearby sit on the steps of the Duomo with ice cream. I’m not lying to say that staying in this town is idyllic. The apartment itself is clean and tidy with great mod cons. Elda is a great host, she kept in touch on the phone before our arrival and during it. Make sure to follow her directions to the apartment and don’t rely on google maps because it is not very accurate.

Because the town is a limited traffic zone (ZTL) you are not allowed to drive up to the apartment so be aware that you will have to park outside the town walls (very safe to do so) and the walk up to the apartment with luggage can be quite arduous. But I wouldn’t let this put you off staying to be honest.

I misread the fact that the flat had air conditioning. Instead for air-conditioning we had fans that helped moving the air around and made the heat bearable, yet it was hard to sleep due to the heat wave that hit Italy during the days we were in San Gminiano.

The apt. is in the middle of the old town, close to everything. The host was very good and communicative, and provided ventilators to ease the heat. Was a very comfortable stay for a couple.

Could have added a few small touches, like a welcome drink or fruits, and nice soaps in the bathroom to make the stay even more enjoyable.

Clear instructions.

Very roomy apartment in excellent condition. This was my stop to do laundry halfway through my stay in Italy and it worked out great. There were strings outside the window to hang things to dry. The hosts had prepared a lot of information about the area for the guests in the room.
