Borgo San Gusmè

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm Tuscan welcome. Lorenzo and Daniela were so lovely and accommodating. The apartment was lovely. Spacious, clean and very homely with magnificent views of the Chianti countryside. The old village was beautifully restored with only approximately 50 residents. With easy access to Siena and Florence we can highly recommend Borgo San Guzme as a perfect base for a Tuscan holiday.

We would have liked more than one electrical portable hot plate as a cooking facility.

My family have travelled around the world, however, our experience at Borgo San Gusme with a wonderful host Lorenzo and his wife Daniela, were sensational. You will hardly find other hosts like them, and staying at their lovely house was a lifetime experience. Therefore, my review will be somehow different to a standard one. From the moment we entered Lorenzo’s apartment we got a unique feeling of transferring into a genuinely historical Tuscan house, with a beautiful design and artistic sense of Lorenzo, coupled with the outstanding interior decorations and attention to every single detail, including furniture, books, paintings, souvenirs and the likes. We were thrilled to see so much passion and love that was put into making this place so beautiful and delightful. It is hard to describe in words all great qualities of this accommodation, although in short the apartment was very cozy and spacious, super clean, which made us feel extremely comfortable throughout the entire stay. The photos on booking.com depict exactly how everything looks like. We truly felt like living in a real Tuscan house. This place is great to relax, indulge into the Tuscan atmosphere, admire beautiful views of the surrounding area with picturesque hills and vineyards, but also to explore historical landmarks, e.g. nearby Florence. Lorenzo is not just a host, he is a soul mate, an inspiring story teller, who captivates with his knowledge of the rich history and culture of San Gusme, Tuscany and Italy. Lorenzo is a travel expert, being able to share valuable tips about tourist attractions, how to get around, what to admire, and recommend restaurants with genuine local food. We appreciate it all, including our common dinner in San Gusme with a life music :)! Lorenzo and Daniela, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your warm hearts and generosity. It was an unforgettable experience and we highly recommend your place to everyone who wishes to get inspired by the true Tuscany.

EVERYTHING! The room was absolutely stunning, the view is incredible, the place has everything you need to enjoy a holiday in Tuscany, I can’t say enough nice things about the host Lorenzo & his wife Daniella, from recommendations to checking in on us, if you are wanting somewhere that is authentic & the owner is so passionate about then Borgo San Gusme is for you, we will definitely be back! :)

Staying here has been the highlight of our Northern Italian trip. San Gusme was a delightful, charming little village to base ourselves to explore Tuscany. We could walk down to the nearby restaurants in less than 5 minutes.The views from our apartment windows were classic Tuscan landscapes. We also had the use of a small shared terrace with lovely views. Our apartment was spacious, comfortable and clean, authentically decorated with some delightful artwork. The quietness of the village meant we could have a good night's sleep. Our host, Lorenzo, was extremely helpful and kind with good communication before and during our stay. He even helped us with our heavy luggage up the steps to our apartment and when we left.

The kitchenette was a little small for self catering but Lorenzo provided everything he could to make preparation of our meals doable.

We liked EVERYTHING about this property and the lovely hosts Lorenzo and Daniela. They were superb characters and made our stay in their lovely apartment so much fun. We stayed in the private, 2-bedroom apartment and the space was fantastic: 2 lovely double bedrooms with very comfortable beds; 2 very clean and spacious shower rooms with great water pressure; a fully stocked amazing kitchen and dining space and a lovely balcony with spectacular views, overlooking the roofs of the old medieval town and the beautiful countryside beyond. The beautifully restored apartment was so quirky, with Lorenzo being a relentless collector of all things interesting and beautiful. Lorenzo and Daniela are the best kind of hosts. They have mastered that fine art of being available, attentive, fun and just ever-so-slightly bonkers, without getting in the way of your holiday or be overbearing (which sometimes happens in holiday destinations). He even gave us a tour of his very interesting wine cellar and a very special wine tasting. We stayed here for the last 4 nights of our 2 week holiday and enjoyed EVERY minute, whether we decided to have a relaxing moment on the balcony or if we went to one of Lorenzo's recommended wine tasting or tourist sports, it was just perfect!! If I rated the apartment alone I would have given it a perfect 10/10 but with Lorenzo and Daniela's superb style of hospitality, it is a shame that there is no such thing as 15/10. Thank you so much for the extra touch - English tea and milk in the apartment. First apartment in our trip that thought of providing this :-)

This is just the best place ever!!

This property was like a fairytale! We loved every single second spent here. The place was clean, spotless and had a rustic charm that provided a truly authentic Tuscan experience. The hosts Lorenzo and Daniella were so friendly, warm and kind. They were very attentive and made sure we had an enjoyable stay. We would recommend anyone visiting the Tuscan countryside to book this place! we will surely be here again!!
