The sheets were dirty, the room was dirty, the bathroom was full of mould. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom didn’t work properly. And the owner was very very pushy. And I got a message to say if you use too much power then you will be charged extra.

I booked this facility through Booking.com the day before I was due to travel to Colombo with my family. However, the next day when I contacted the property using the provided details for check in, I was informed that no apartments were available, and they only sent me a message about it. They did not even make a courtesy call to explain the situation. I have traveled to many countries and booked accommodation through Booking.com, but I have never had such an experience before. This left me in a very uncomfortable position, having to search for another place to stay that night while keeping my family waiting on the road for a long time. Such a response is highly unprofessional, especially for guests traveling with families. The property should have updated their availability on Booking.com to reflect that they were fully booked, so I could have made alternative arrangements in advance.
