Akira Peak House Kinugawa

The apartment is a 5 min walk from Kinugawa-Onsen station, and very convenient to take a train or a bus. It is right next to a main road for those coming by car. The apartment was spacious and the aircon worked well to cool the space down on hot summer days. There was everything that was needed to prepare meals in the kitchen, pots, pans, plates and cutlery. It was a typical older-style Japanese apartment.

Please consider this carefully if you are sensitive to smells, as there is a lingering smell of cigarettes in the tatami rooms. While the main part of the apartment had the wallpaper renewed and there is no smell, the cupboard where the futons are stored, the tatami rooms walls and floors have a lingering smell of cigarettes. The towels also smelled of cigarettes, even though they clearly had been washed. Some of the futons smelled musty.

Great location for all the sites of kinugawa, free parking, close to shopping, kitchenette for cooking, can't beat the price. Manager on site super friendly and informative, wish we spoke Japanese so we could have communicated even more. Host very responsive and helpful.

Not the most comfortable but we just needed a place to sleep so worked well.

If you are staying in the kinugawa onsen area this is a good location. It's steps away from the bus station you arrive at, however, we actually wanted to spend time in the Nikko heritage area and we learned the hard way it's quite far away. 30mins by train and we had to do this back and forth and wished we stayed closer to the Nikko main area.

For this price it is a perfect choice

But there is one big issue - this room is for smoking people. We as non-smoking family with small child were suffering from this tobacco smell.

Bathroom was clean. Room was warm.

Strong smell of cigarettes. People who cannot stand cigarettes smell (such as family with small kids) may want to reconsider.

there are kitchen

the staff talk too much unnecessary things. we came from Yamanashi and were very tired, wanted to check in immediately and rest. we thought the staff would explain about our room but instead explained things we didn't need for over an hour. because we were very tired, tried to stop the conversation by saying wanted to find something to eat, and he started saying he wanted to join us to eat. what?. the room was very dusty, the bath towels looked like they had never been washed, and what was really bad, the bathroom was very wet like it had been used, even though we had just entered the room. We understand this place is cheap, but we do not recommend this place.
