Kenroku Haitsu 205

This property is a self-catering apartment less than ten minutes walk from the main attractions of Kenruoken Gardens and site of the former Castle, although well over a mile from the railway station. It is one of may be 6 or 8 apartments in the same block in a quiet residential area and I probably would not have found it without seeking advice from the very helpful Tourist Information Centre at Kanazawa Station. The apartment provided everything I needed for a three-night stay as a solo traveller; the bed is a traditional Japanese mattress on the floor of the living room and the kitchen area, although quite small, has an adequate cooker as well as a fridge and a washing machine; the latter was very useful because I was on a 5-week trip around Japan and presented a good opportunity to get my laundry done. Considering the price, it represents amazing value for money

There was no-one on duty at the office when I arrived, so had to wait about half an hour for someone to bring the key. I don't think the reception is manned all the time, so it might be advisable to ring ahead to let them know your exact arrival time. There are no large supermarkets (only a 7-11 store) in the immediate vicinity, so only limited shopping options for self-catering.

Great value for money. We stayed one night. It served our purpose very well. The beds comfortable, whole apartment was clean, staff welcoming us was helpful and warm. The location was only about 10mins easy walk to the garden and castle, nice!

Literally smells like puke. Walls are paper thin.

The location is good to get around! Maybe not so much restaurants near by after a long day sightseeing so keep that in mind. But otherwise everything is good! Being able to use the bikes was great for evening outings & going further for food. The apartment was a lot bigger than we expected and it is a nice quiet area! Definitely good value for money!

The ‘futon’ is basically a camping mattress on the floor so not so comfy!
