"A warm and unforgettable stay with stunning scenery, heartfelt hospitality and home-cooked meals."

10.0

A perfect retreat for nature lovers and hikers! This charming accommodation offers a peaceful escape with stunning scenery and warm hospitality from Aunty Preethi and Uncle Dayarathne, who make us feel like family. The homemade meals, crafted with fresh garden ingredients, are a highlight. Ideal for hikers on Stages 4 and 5 of the Pekoe Trail, the hosts provide essential services like baggage transfer and transportation, making the stay both comfortable and convenient. A must-visit for those seeking an authentic and relaxing experience!

One thing to note is that the bathroom is small and located on a lower level, giving it a treehouse-like feel. While this adds to the natural charm of the stay, some guests might find it a bit unconventional.

"Wonderful hosts who provided a delicious and plentiful dinner and breakfast."

Beautiful location with a fantastic view.

The toilet/bathroom requiring a trip outside down two flights of metal stairs was a bit tricky in the wet.

"A piece of paradise"

10.0

The warm & friendly welcome from our hosts and from the community of Watagoda. The view from our room on the second floor was spectacular, the variety of authentic & organic Sri Lankan food that Preethi made for breakfast, lunch & dinner & the location for us to complete Stages 5 & 6 of the Pekoe Trsil.

The location close to the train station and pekoe trail is perfect. The host Pretty was exceptionally nice and sweet and cooked for us and made sure we felt comfortable and happy the whole stay. It is a small family house and they make you feel prt of the family. The room view and setting is incredible

All was great, it is a simple « hut » with bathroom downstairs, but it feels like a treehouse its great!

The views from the cottage are breathtaking and the home-cooked dinner with local organic ingredients was delicious. Away from the chaos of town centre.

"Excellent value for money accommodation for the Pekoe trail."

9.0

Great location at the end of the Pekoe trail stage 5. Lovely view from the room which has a very comfortable bed. Excellent communication from the owners son and delicious food served by his mother. Nothing was too much trouble.

Shower and toilet room was a bit basic.

Tasty food

I booked this property two months in advance based on its good reviews but faced significant issues upon arrival. After being shown to my room (the second floor), the host informed me via her son (on a phone call) that the room was double-booked through a travel agent. Despite his claims of contacting me beforehand, I found no evidence of missed calls or messages. I was then offered a less desirable room on the first floor for 2,500 rupees, which I reluctantly accepted. The room on the second floor was later given to a couple who also seemed dissatisfied with their treatment. Additionally, I agreed on a price for dinner and breakfast, assuming drinks would be included as they typically are. However, I was charged separately for tea (350 rupees), coffee (400–500 rupees), and even milk (150 rupees), at restaurant-level prices. To add to this, I was unexpectedly charged a "service fee" of 450 rupees, which was not disclosed on Booking.com. This was the first time during my travels in Sri Lanka that I encountered such a charge. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and misleading. While the place may have its positives, transparency and guest treatment need significant improvement
