Sea front apartment at Mellieha Bay, Malta!

The location was as described, the apartment looks directly over the bay. The apartment itself was ok, there was a fully equipped kitchen. The information pack supplied was very helpful & the welcome pack was also very good.

The information pack supplied by the host (which he emailed to me & has laminated copies of in the apartment) clearly states that we were to leave by 10am so therefore we had pre-booked a Taxi for 10 am on our day of departure(Tuesday). On the Monday at 8am while we were still in bed sleeping we were awoken by a phone call on the apartment landline from our host (which he had also done on the previous day waking us up) to tell us bluntly that we had to vacate by 9am because he had more guests arriving & also that we owed him 40 Euros. We disputed both of these facts with him but he was rudely insistent. When we checked on Booking.com we saw that they state 9am to vacate, so his own information pack is misleading. We then received a message from Booking.com asking us to vacate on time & also that we owed 40 Euros for an Environment Fee. Again when we checked on our booking on Booking.com it states that we have to pay an Environment Fee of 1 Euro per person per night which adds up to be 14 Euros which we paid to our host. He also kept phoning trying to make arrangements to come & meet us in person whenever we agreed we would be there it wasn't convenient for him. We were supposed to be on holiday having a relaxing time not being bombarded by phone calls from our host. We chose an apartment so that we could come & go as we pleased & it felt like we were being constantly watched. The Hot water for the shower does not last for 2 showers & is on a timer which the host controls through a smart plug. There is no Hot water in the kitchen at all, the host says you don't need it because in the summer the cold water is warm enough. But in April when we rented the apartment you obviously do need it so we had to keep boiling the kettle just to wash up. The Kettle had to be scrubbed because it was rusty & had a layer of slime. The toilet appears to have a leak at the back & the bathroom smells very strongly of urine.

Excellent location overlooking the sea. A very spacious and comfortable apartment with free parking on the street. Very close to some great bars and restaurants. Two great sandy beaches within few minutes walk. The apartment is situated in a very convenient spot to explore the other parts of the island. We found the host Mario very friendly and extremely helpful.

A hair dryer in the apartment would have been good.

It is a nice long flat on the secon floor. The kitchen is together with the living room and balcony, very good place for having a breakfast or a dinner. The view of the sea is a great thing. The 2 bedrooms far away from the noise of the kitchen is also a positive thing. The "turist starter package"(milk, bread, salami, one bottle of wine, etc.) was a very nice gesture from the owner!

The type of the bed was too soft for me. The teflon frying pan was very old (and was in bad condition). Only Nescafe possible (no machine inside).

Nice quite place near the sea, perfect distance from beach, shops and restaurants, bus stop are also nearby. Isolated from other buildings, so less annoying neighbors, more silence :) In apartment you will find all necessary staff.

Check out time is quite early- 9am (in guide which host send us was written 10am, but it was incorrect), and there is no place to leave your luggage - so if you have flight in the evening you will need to find out what to do with it.
