We visited earlier in the year and the room needed updating then, but nothing had been done six months on. The mould in the bathroom is pretty awful. And the room smells as a result. They provide a coffee machine, but no coffee. No shampoo or soap either. Towels are worn and tired. We were there in December and it was cold, insufficient blankets. No heating. There’s no-one on site to meet you, which would normally be fine. However they do not tell you until an hour or so before the 3pm check (when you’re repeatedly asking how you can access your room) that they require photographic proof of ID. If you’re travelling and do not have WIFi or good cell coverage good luck, as they will not provide you with the numerous codes and instructions to check in until you have sent it. They request this over WhatsApp, not the Booking.com platform. I refused and sent it via the platform, but he then screenshot it and sent it to me via WhatsApp to confirm receipt! This nonchalant attitude towards security of other people’s data in unacceptable. Even though I was in contact with them from 9am to advise our ETA (as they request) it wasn’t until 4 hours later they gave instructions. Note, there are 3 separate locks to navigate before you can get into your room so they send you a video via WhatsApp once they have your ID. Again, not useful if you’re travelling and don’t have data. I’d have no problem with providing ID if it was requested in a timely manner and I was happy it was being held securely. Unfortunately they did neither.
