"Beautiful apartment on the way north from Auckland"

They really understate this property. The Ruru apartment is enormous, fully equipped and absolutely gorgeous. She is an artist (the studio is on site) and it shows in the decor. The grounds are beautiful. We had dinner and breakfast on the lawn overlooking the sea. It is essentially at the door of gorgeous Tawharanui regional park.

It can be difficult to find, though. Be careful; although it is Ruru Lodge in Booking, it is not the Ruru Lodge near Lake Taupo, of course, that you will find on GPS sites. Head out he Takatu Rd towards Tawharanui regional park. The sign at the turn off from the road points to Kotare House.
