Casa Encantada - Elias

Top floor with rooftop balcony, very roomy, clean and quiet. About 10 minutes walk from the S. Sebastio Metro which we thought was the best one to use (Other end of the line from the airport). Absolutely surrounded by local shops, takeaways and restaurants. For those not so mobile - the lift goes to the 7th floor and then you need to walk up some stairs to the 8th.

Getting into the place was a real chore - scratching our heads we stood outside a block of flats with an access-controlled door! After a phone call we were sent the external door access code and the apartment door key code. The apartment is actually on the 8th floor, it's their reception that's on the 7th but, although there aren't many different doors on those two floors, none of them - including the reception and the apartment - is numbered or marked in any way. I was wary of knocking on the wrong door and handing over my €20 Tourist Tax to a complete stranger.

The apartment is fantastic. It's so warm and cozy and has everything you will need if you're staying in Lisbon for more than a night or two. The neighborhood is walkable, friendly, and close to a few different metro lines, making it a great base for exploring the city. And the balconies were incredible places to relax and unwind.
