Casa d'Alfama by Lisbon Village Apartments

Location Restaurant right beside apartment was delicious. The host was quick to bring us an adapter for us to use. Very accessible

The shower was super small. Could barely fit in it. T. Wasn’t working properly.

Small bed for two persons. Seat cushions in the kitchen were a little dirty. It would be great to know in advance recommendations on how to arrive by public transport or personal car.

Location was great, in the heart of Alfama. Be prepared to walk 200 meters or so on cobblestone as vehicles can’t get through the narrow streets.

Required two sets of keys, one to get into the building and one to get into the apartment. We were asked to leave the keys in the apartment when checking out however the outside door was locked from the outside so we were locked in the hallway of the building. The staff took 40 minutes to get us out which resulted in us nearly missing our flight. Also we could not get our AC working. We messaged the owners and they said they would check for us. We never did hear back from them nor did we get the AC working.

Great location; clean and comfortable.

Of the three main tourist areas, this was the best choice for me (over Chiado and Baixa). Alfama had the best views and is quieter than the other two (which are for younger partiers). It’s ideal for families because there’s a bedroom for two and, I believe, a sofa bed in the living room. It has a washer and refrigerator.

Two problems. The shower is small. Very small. If you’re the least bit out of shape, you’re going to smell because it’s tough to fit. Secondly, you better be in shape to walk to the apartment. You can resort to taking a €7 taxi up to the apartment from the metro or train station. That’s what I decided to do the final few days. Finally, the owner mentioned it’s a 10 minute walk from the train station or metro to the apt. It’s not. Google maps agrees with me that it’s 20 minutes. Also, while the owner did call a taxi for us when we departed to the airport, they were a no-show. I hope you have better luck.
