Casas São Julião

I loved Lisbon and we loved staying in this location in the middle of everything but in a quiet place. Could not have picked a better location! We thought of Alfama but was happy that I made this an excursion instead. In this location we did not have to climb hills for much:-) Everything outside the door and just by the big walking shopping and restaurant street Rua Augusta. Many had written they had banged their heads on the low ceilings and I did once - but it was no problem and it is only in the lower spots in bedroom and by one window and a part of the charm of the place. We felt very safe here, and everything was very clean and had all amenities. We lacked nothing. We thought it was very clever that the host let us in via an app, which was a plus for us especially since my daughter has social anxiety and we then didn't have to meet anyone. We loved that we felt very private here. However also nice that you call the host so you feel you can reach out. We will not look for another place next time we come! beds and duvets and especially pillows were very comfy

Only thing I can think of is that there was no plug for the bathtub and I had really looked forward to a swim in the bathtub. I did not reach out to host about this though, as I could have done. If it is on purpose my suggestion would be to make that more clear:-)

Location is excellent, near main Lisbon attractions, restaurants and grocery stores. Easy access to public transportation.

The apartment floorplan is quite awkward, with low head clearance, lots of small niches and corners and lack of at least one more open space. Some people may feel it quite claustrophobic.

Location in the center of downtown. Easy to get transportation like tram, metro and bus.

Nothing special

The location was THE best. The apartment had everything you would need.

Certain areas has low beams and doorways where you have to bend to enter. That was very inconvenient as I bumped my head numerous times. There should be a warning sign and edges should be protected with rubber cushioning to prevent injury.

Location was great, one block from Praça do Comércio and all other major attractions. Metro stations are also nearby so is Tram 28. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay, stove, washing machine, fridge, TV with international channels, etc.

The check-in process was a bit stressful as we needed to call the owner to get access to the building, which was a bit tricky as we did not have international roaming; owner should consider providing pin codes to access the building/ apartment, as many other accommodations do.

It was close to the main centre of Lisbon

Lack of air con, very small rooms, lack of proper lighting in the evening, extremely low ceilings (and we are short). These issues were not visible in the booking.com photos nor was it mentioned that the apartment is on the top floor (and close to the roof) and the lift stopped at the floor below. There are approximately 10 stairs ( again clearly not mentioned or visible) which is an issue with luggage

Needs to mention in information that it’s a lift to floor 5 then up stairs to 6th floor rooftop apartment with low ceilings. No air con & toilet door did not close. Nearly no space around the bed. No tea coffee or milk provided
