Ella - Fantastic apartment - Vilamoura

Very spacious, modern and clean.

we loved the location, about a 15 minute walk to the marina or beach and the property was very nice inside, modern with all facilities you would expect from a self catering property

we couldn’t access the swimming pool. no one ever contacted us with a code to gain entry, despite contacting the number and emailing a few times. the pool was the number 1 facility we look for in a property so to not have access was very very disappointing. the drains in the property also had a nasty smell, this did go slightly as we used them but wasn’t very nice the whole week. I think it would also be nice to have some washing up liquid and a couple of dishwasher tablets left and maybe some cleaning spray for the bathrooms so we can freshens them up as the week went on. we had to buy a washing up liquid that we hardly used. we hope the next occupants can use this. I would prefer this to having soap and shower gel.

Apartment was located on the middle floor of a 3 storey block, very modern and comfortable, all home from home comforts with a fully functional kitchen area including washing machine and dishwasher. Balcony had a table and 6 chairs and 3 sun loungers. Master bedroom was really stylish with an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom had twin beds which was spacious with a large fitted wardrobe. Apartment air conditioning was a delight and welcomed on warm evenings.

Family bathroom drain smelled a bit and had a resident cockroach which was difficult to catch but otherwise quite roomy. On arrival the agent greeted us to let us in but we couldn’t find access to the swimming pool, the agent assured us someone would telephone us to give instructions, sadly no call came. The next day we telephoned again since we found the gate which was 40 metres down the road, no problem but then we discovered all the good sun loungers were locked up and probably privately owned. There were two green broken ones which were dangerous to use since the breakage was in the centre of the beds. The agent advised that they would find out if we could use the locked up ones somehow and promised to call us back. No return call ever came. We did think of carrying the 3 loungers from the balcony but it would’ve been a mission and half with staircases and doorways, not forgetting dodging cars on the roadway down to the pool. Also the pool was not very clean, the tiling was grimy and needed a good scrub. Very disappointing to be honest since our break was to relax by the pool, we did buy air beds and used our beach towels on them but it wasn’t ideal since there was no shade at the pool whatsoever ie no parasols or trees in the pool area. Surely if a shared pool with other apartments there must be a service charge that can purchase such equipment? No matter since we won’t be returning, which is a shame really because the apartment is fabulous and well located approximately 10-15 minutes walk from the marina. If the pool is not your thing then you’ll be fine but if pool relaxation is important then think twice
