Vila Rosa Flat

Nice apartment but it was a real faf to get into the apartment. We first went into the reception of the hotel that actually shares the same swimming pool area with the apartment to be told they didn’t know where the apartments were then having to wait for the company to bring the keys for the apartment then the guy that bought the key told us the wrong room number!!!

Didn’t like the area the apartment was in wouldn’t stay again even though it was cheap but that said I wouldn’t go back to Portimão full stop just a load of ugly high rise d hotels and apartments

The location was great, walking distance to the beach, but still far enough to have quiet nights. The communication with the staff was very quick. The Pool area was very nice

The apartment is in dire need of remodeling and investment in new amenities. Bathroom should be completely remodel as it was gathering black mold in the corners of broken tiles and silicone fillings and the air extractor didn't work. The bed was the biggest disappointment. The mattress was terribly uncomfortable, one could feel the springs (I weight 53 Kg). The pillows gave me allergies and the bed sheets smelled of rancid sweat. All in all, every time I went into the bedroom I had a very strong allergic reaction... which resulted in not sleeping well.

The location was brilliant, a 10-15 walk to shops, restaurants and the gorgeous Praia da Rocha beach. There was also a local bakery. The swimming pool was fantastic - large and 2.8m depth, great for diving. There was also a seperate children's pool and snack bar. We didn't eat there but alcoholic drinks were expensive. The swimming pool was gated and secure with plenty of sun loungers. The apartment was air conditioned and was a good size for a family of four. The apartment had plenty of utensils for us as a family of four, cups, glasses, plates, cuttlery etc. We cooked in the apartment a few times and found sufficient saucepans etc. There is also a fridge freezer. I highly recommend doing a tour of the sea caves. We opted for the trip that goes deeper out to see in the hope of seeing dolphins and we were lucky enough to see lots!! The marina is lovely at the end of Praia da Rocha beach. This is where we booked our sea cave tour. From the marina, you can get a sea taxi over to Ferragudo (about 5 mins by boat) which has a lovely beach and is a really pretty little town to visit. We took a short taxi ride to Alvor, a gorgeous fishing village with cobbled streets, fresh seafood and full of character. Highly recommend going there! Portimao old town is also worth a visit.

There isn't anywhere to store your suitcases after check out at 11am. The lock to get in the main communal front door was pretty tricky and lots of others also found this to be the case. There was a 'knack' to it and once you figure it out, it's ok. Sadly the mattress in the main bedroom was way too firm (bordering on uncomfortable). I really hope they change this for future guests. My husband, who can sleep anywhere, anytime, and is usually not bothered about this sort of thing, also found it to be uncomfortable. The sofa bed was a bit temperamental to set up, again, there was a 'knack' to it! The balcony was a little cramped as it housed two huge air conditioning units so I think you'd struggle to sit out there as a family of four. The bathroom was really outdated but the shower was warm & powerful at least.

Check in was easy and the host very accommodating. The flat was very clean, pool was wonderful - enough sunbeds so no stress! Food at the hotel was very reasonable.

space in apartment close to beach and city centre for walking, cleanliness of apartment although it was showing it's age around the edges.

It could be noisy when workshop just below balcony were working and truck at 8pm operating crane right below balcony, another resident left howling dog in one of the apartments all day.
