The Back Yard Nest

It is spacious and well outfitted. Location is conveniently serviced by several bus routes and trams. Convenient grocery store within 200 yd and many restaurants.

Appartment is clean, big, there is everything what you need (even washing mashine, iron, salt and olive oil for cooking), it is in very good location, but still in quite street. There is supermarket, many restaurants, caffees, bus and tram stop in 1-2 minutes walking. The area is really nice, still walking distance to the centre.

It was almost perfect, it is just on ground floor so you do not have such privacy, but there are not many people walking around so its still ok. But besides that, it is really good choice :)

location in Graca is great. lovely and quiet but easy access to the city and tram 28. Graca has its own neighbourhood and identity. apartment itself has been carefully designed with attention to detail. we cooked a few times and the kitchen is well equipped. great communication from host through booking.com messages.

it would be nice if the yard round the back could be private rather than a through route to another property. development work going on at the moment.

We loved our stay here. The location was perfect. It's tucked away down a quiet street but close enough to walk to many popular parts of the city. The apartment was absolutely spotless and very comfortable. The room has a book with lots of great restaurant, transportation and sightseeing recommendations. The complimentary bottle of wine and bowl of fruit that greeted us upon arrival was above and beyond. Access to the little backyard was also a bonus and a great place to sit in the evening with a glass of wine. We felt so lucky to have found the Back Yard Nest and would absolutely stay here again next time we visit. Thank you!

That we couldn't stay longer!

A wonderful place to stay with everything you could possibly want and a great host. It was extremely clean, comfortable and roomy, and in a very convenient neighborhood for tourists. They even had an unexpected fruit basket and bottle of wine for us on arrival. We had transportation issues arriving and didn't get in until 3:00 AM, and Valeria met us with keys and helped with our luggage and was so nice, welcoming and cheerful (yes--cheerful at 3:00 AM!). We had another special request and Valeria went out of her way to accommodate. She's really extraordinary, and her efforts and attitude were greatly appreciated. (In fact, we tried to give her a tip since she was so exceptional and she wouldn't accept it--she said all the extra things she did and the inconvenient late arrival were no problem for her at all. She's a gem!!)

Spacious and well located. Having a king size bed is always a bonus too. The apartment had everything we needed for 4 nights.

The shower wasn't great at draining but we coped perfectly well.

I had a wonderful time in the apartment this winter. It is located in an unique local area in Lisbon, nice butchery store, coffee shops and restaurants all around here. The stop of Tram 28 is very close to the apartment. I came here alone, the apartment is spacious and comfortable enough for a solo travler. The kitchen is my favoriate space, there are all equipments I need. The host is really helpful and friendly. Also too fantastic to have the sunsets in Lisbon everyday when I stayed. Of course will visit here again when I come back to Lisbon next time.

Large apartment with a comfortable bed. Great kitchen with all the amenities. Great bathroom and shower. Close to tram and bus stop. Close to castle, miradors and elevators. Not to far to walk to for people in reasonable shape. Lots of restaurants and shopping Close by.

The Backyard Nest looked perfect online, but being my first visit to Lisbon, I was a little hesitant -- simply because the main tourist attractions are not in Graca and it is not among the top 6 or so neighborhoods outlined in the guidebooks. After visiting, I not only urge people to stay in Graca -- but I'm also seriously thinking of buying a place in the livable, down to earth and historic neighborhood. I spent way more time than I expected in Graca. It has great restaurants, bakeries, plazas and best of all -- the two best overlooks in a city filled with views down its steep hills onto the river and landscape. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels, motels, B&Bs, inns, apartments and quirky lodging. Backyard Nest ranks atop any I have visited -- via Booking.com or any other service. You truly have everything you would ever need. The kitchen is perfect -- full sized fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, full range and stove top, very nice plates, flatware, glasses. The bathroom is compact, but the shower tube doesn't leak at all and the warm water is fast to arrive and runs endlessly. The bed is firm and comfortable. There is an amazing amount of natural light, but very easy to use roll-down blinds allow you to turn the room dark as night for sleeping or napping. The area is gated. The gate was never locked, but it gave an added sense of privacy and security. Although Graca and the specific area the Nest is located felt so safe that I probably could have left the door unlocked. The unit is one of a half dozen or so. The other neighbors seem to be year-round owners. They are friendly (though my Portuguese is horrible) and quiet at night. The unit is one story, so no footsteps sound from above. It has just one common wall, so again, nice and quiet. There's a nice outdoor area behind a gate. I found it fabulous for drinking local, very inexpensive wine on at the clean and lovely table. The hosts are perfect. Stay here.

I really cannot think of a thing. The property is a studio, so there is no wall around the bed. But I'm not sure a renovation to create a private bedroom would actually improve the space. The bed is low to the ground, so maybe it would be difficult to get out of for an older person or person with joint pain. But the mattress is firm and comfortable.
