Portugal here I Come - Alfama-Castelo

The privacy and location were great! The host Cristina was super helpful with everything.

The only down side was no air con! We went in May and the small fan was good enough but I can imagine in Summer it would get very hot

The location was awesome, close to everything if you like to walk, lots of hills. There was a bus that was very close and took you to the waterfront area. Cristina was a gracious host and I hope to meet her again.

Nothing really.

The apartment is very cozy and well located if you want to visit the castle and stay in the old part of town. From the castle and the two viewpoints close by, you can have amazing views of the city, river and the port. There are different restaurants at a walking distance as well as some small grocery stores. Good to keep in mind that this area has very steep hills and the streets are made in old stone so it’s difficult to walk around if you have any movement restrictions. A taxi should indeed be able to get you very close to the location and the public bus can do this as well. the staff was incredibly helpful when our taxi driver decided he didn’t want to go into the castle walls as the streets are narrow. Please check this before you take your taxi!

Uncomfortable mattress, tiny bathroom, thin walls (birds and neighbors are super loud in that area), and the location is not accessible via Bolt or Uber so you have to walk up the hill (I don't recommend bringing big luggage or trolley)

The apartment couldn't have been more central for exploring old Lisbon! Very atmospheric district, quiet in the evenings despite being in such a tourist hotspot right by the Castelo de Sao Jorge. It felt friendly and safe, and it was easy to reach the area by public transport or on foot. Appreciated having WiFi in the apartment too.

The bathroom was a little cramped even for a fairly average-sized person (173cm, 63kg) - although it could hardly be improved given the space available. A couple of hooks in the bathroom for hanging towels and clothing would have been welcome.

Very small toilet (and it was leaking). There was no window in there, so I have to have my doors open for more air circulation (thus problem with the privacy in the apartment).

This place is terrible. There are no windows, except a tiny one above the sink that only opens an inch for ventilation. You can’t see out of it. The pillows were so old and thin. I complained about the pillows and was told they would check them after Ali left to see if they needed to be replaced. The bathroom is so small you can’t even turn around in it. The shower did not drain so you had to stand in a puddle of water. The location is at the top of the hill and taxis are not allowed to go all the way up so you have to drag your suitcase up the hill.
