Location was great, easy access. Bedroom (two beds) was nice and the beds were comfy but the 2nd room with bunk beds is actually a closet without windows so you may want to keep that in mind if you are more than 2.

Shower tiles were broken, with jagged edges (I informed the hosts right away). The only safe option to shower was wearing flip flops. Air conditioning in the room did not work properly, only blowing air without cooling (but the one in the living room worked fine). There is a restaurant right outside the front door, with music playing at night and lunch time. Even with the double glazing, you can hear the music so perhaps not great if you a light sleeper.

Being in the heart of Alfama, the location is excellent . The shower water is hot and the beds are comfortable. The small kitchenette has all facilities required for a short stay. A supermarket is within walking distance and the staff at the nearby tourist information center are very helpful. The walk to downtown is very manageable for anyone of reasonable fitness/mobility. The apartment is on the #28 tram line and is a short walk from the Castle.

The stairs from the front door up to the apartment are steep and the treads are narrow. Take great care when using them!

Excellent location

Excellent location, good sized room for that area of Lisbon. Overall, even with the problems, it was OK for the price though I would not recommend this place for guests who are not fairly rugged and willing to "rough it" a bit.

Check in is a disaster. No advance instructions are provided so you arrive at the building with locked door and no clue what to do next. So if you arrive a couple hours early as I did, you will be confused and waiting around. I hung out at the pizzeria downstairs and manged to catch a couple enterring the apartment door to learn that I will likely be contacted a few minutes prior to check-in with a lockbox code. I also learned that their power had been out since the previous night and to please inform the owners as they had been unable to contact them. The owner did eventually respond to my queries to say that the unit would be ready at check-in and then a key code would be provided. I found that I also had no power and informed the owners. It was not until the next day that power was restored. When I questioned the owners they blamed it on the other guests and acted as though it was a regular thing and no big deal. Well, I had a 2 night stay with electricity for only 1 so it was like camping for half of my stay. I got to know the pizza restaurant folks downstairs as I was hanging out charging my phone that first day. A dying cell phone on check-in day is a beeotch ! The unit was OK but very steep stairs up so no good for older or otherwise impaired guests. Decent sized apartment overall but the bathroom is basically a dirty closet and the kitchen (if you could call it that) is practically non-existent. If you just consider it a hotel suite with some very basic bonus cooking facilities, it's not such a bad deal. I'd wait for a reno before considering a return tho' and that's coming from a guy who values economy over comfort !
