Endemic - Concept Apartment

The location was awesome! The included parking also amazingly convenient (in a parking garage across the street - that would get crowded - but, the included parking was on a private floor of the garage that never was filled). Given how great the location was, we hardly used the car at all. The apartment had everything we could need/want. And was very comfortable. The balcony was lovely. We could walk to a swimming place (with life guards/lockers/changing rooms/sun beds/etc). Washing machine and drying rack included - so, we could pack light!

In the heat of august, the evenings could be a little warm in the apartment (no a/c). But, there are fans provided, so that helped. There was construction nearby, so sleeping past 8 a.m. for me was a challenge (but, the teens didn't mind at all). If anything - it helped me not sleep my vacation away in the comfortable apartment!

This property has absolutely everything you would need for any length of stay. The host is super helpful and allowed us to check out just a bit later. Gave us lots of great tips. The location is perfect for easy access to any transport or 2 minutes to the promenade to walk. We even had a free parking bay to use. The views from the balcony were beautiful of the old city.

Initially the construction work surrounding the property was disturbing but we soon realized this is only during the day so we made sure we were back after 7 to avoid the noise. Be prepared to walk up 4 storey steps.

We loved everything about the apartment: the spaciousness, the huge outdoor terrace with comfy furniture and a view to beat all views, the well-equipped kitchen, and intriguing decor. And, although it was in the center of activity with shops, restaurants, and the tram only steps away, it was relaxing and quiet.

Although we enjoyed the exercise, some may not appreciate the three floors of stairs that must be climbed to get to the apartment.

The apartment was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and colorful. The location was perfect: we had great restaurants, shops, and the sea with free swimming spots right next door.

Wonderful apartment in the heart of Funchal with great parking included. Has everything it claims to have. We had a great experience.

There is some mold in the bathroom that was painted over, but otherwise all super great and highly recommended place to stay!!

Fantastic location and the apartment is a real home from home. Spacious, with lovely touches and the balcony was very large. Sofia was a great host with lots of useful recommendations and very kind.

We were given a full walk through of the property and left a manual telling us useful information. We were also given a list of restaurants to try which was above and beyond what we could expect.

It is difficult to rate this property. The host was superb, one of the most helpful we have experienced in our many breaks. There was nothing that Sophia wouldn't do or offer to do during our stay. We had an outstanding 4x4 tour with Sophia's husband which we highly recommend. The apartment has plenty of room and is well equipped. Inside is like a small art museum, tastefully done. Good sized terrace overlooking Funchal town all the way up to the mountains. If you are looking for a place in the middle of the old town this is for you. Countless restaurants/bars within a five minute walk, bus station across the road and just beyond there is the sea front and promenade.

This is why it is difficult to rate. The apartment is on the third floor and the lift has not worked for many years. 65 steps! The terrace faces due north and so in January there is hardly any sun. This will probably change as the the days lengthen. We suggested to Sofia that a BBQ on the terrace would have been a bonus and it is something she is planning. Sofia is also trying to get shared funding from the other apartments to repair the lift and so some of these negatives may no longer apply in the future. These are relatively minor points, but worth mentioning.
