Apartments in downtown

The location is excellent, better than I thought it would be. Very easy to access metro, tram, boats making outings to sights and day trips easy. Maria, our host, offered many suggestions locally and was very easy to reach.

Nothing stands out.

The location is very special and close to everything and Maria the host is very exceptional. She contacted me via WhatsApp ahead of time and sent me instructions 48 hours before the check in date. She was available anytime I asked her. Even if her appartement was very basic it was equipped with whatever a tourist would need ( universal adapters for phone charger, batteries, extra blankets, Lisbon travel guides, notes with instructions to use the laundry machine etc…).

The bath tub can be upgraded a bit by using a plastic curtains to avoid watering the floor while taking a shower. So a curtain from end to end can do a good job by keeping water back to the tub. The 2nd thing was the toilet paper was just and we needed to buy one extra.

Location is convenient, peaceful, and close to everything you need—shops, cafes, and great local attractions. A perfect spot for both relaxation and exploring the area.

In an excellent location, our top 5th floor apartment had a nice French balcony and a separate sitting area to overlook the area. Although Rua da Prada is restricted to pedestrian and tram traffic (no vehicular traffic allowed), one street over is the ever-active “restaurant row” of Rua Dos Correeiros with its shops and sidewalk cafes. Maria, our hostess, was excellent, very responsive to any questions or concerns, and provided suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and tours. Although the elevator stops at the fourth floor, necessitating walking a flight of stairs, other than hauling luggage when arriving and leaving, it was no problem. Although appliances are older, with nothing “high end,” the kitchen was functional. By the end of our two-week stay, we found the washing machine a nice addition, and the clothes drying rack fit nicely in the outside sitting area. We could walk to the end of the street and take local trams #12, #15, and #25, using the Navegante card for inexpensive transportation and touring the city. The famed #28 stops just a block further.

I couldn’t find anywhere to sit comfortably. I have lower back problems, and the aging large sofa in the living room was too soft and provided no support. The chairs (even with their thin cushions) were akin to sitting on a bench. I had continuing backaches, and had to buy Tiger Balm at a local pharmacy to ease the pain. The A/C in the bedroom was ineffective, so between the backaches and the temperature (and a mattress on the soft side), it was difficult to sleep. At 78, with hip and knee replacements, respectively, my wife and I found it a bit difficult to navigate the high bath tub to take our showers. Although highly touted by our hostess, I had problems trying to use the Nuki electronic security system to unlock doors. I relied on the keys.

The apartment was selected for location, amenities and balcony - and it didn’t disappoint. All the main sights, or transport to them, was within easy reach. The apartment was cosy, spacious and the balcony was a great place to unwind. The washing machine was very welcome and kitchen had all we could need. Our host Maria couldn’t have been more helpful - even giving us a quick history of the area and providing a great tip for dinner. Great place to stay.
