Accommodation at the Folklore Apartment

It's very dirty.

The decor and vibe is incredible. Wonderfully designed and themed. If you want character and something unique then this is it. It is right between the old city and the Presedential Palace, you can walk everywhere from here.

A few things were not in the best repair.

the keys box was hard to open :(

Location was great. Close to old town, restaurants, bars, local transport and sights. Very easy to find when dropped off by taxi.

Communication with host was terrible. Took two weeks to get a reply to message. After 1 week had to contact booking.com for them to contact host but still waited another week for reply. Apartment not as described. No ironing facilities in the apartment. Large mirror in the living area was broken, this may have been a design feature but looked terrible. Behind this what looked like spare bedding for sofa bed was stored so if needing to use the sofa bed bedding was very probably dirty. Getting key from lockbox was pretty difficult. Instructions looked pretty concise but there was no button to press as described. Quite difficult to see which lockbox was the right one as it wasn't labelled. Didn't use anything in the kitchen. Utensils were dirty and covered with dust. Step into bathroom was loose and quite dangerous. Shower would have been much better if we didn't have to hold the shower head whilst having a shower. We assumed tourist tax was included on the cost of the stay as it was not mentioned at all at the time of booking. We were informed that this needed to be left on the table in the apartment in cash very late the night before we were leaving for home.

The interior design of the apartment is really nice. The location is perfect with a lot of shops, bars, restaurants around. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable.

The customer service is the worst ever!!! The lady (host) was so rude and to get her replies via booking or her mobile phone was very difficult. As she told me: "I have a lot of other places to look after". Well, this is her business so she could do better. She blamed me that she had to come to talk to me with her kids!!! And leaving me on the street in a middle of the conversation (she was in her car) after she lost her temper and was so angry, was a really mega unexpected, unpleasant and unacceptable behavior. I have never experienced such a bad approach to a customer from a host in my life and I travel a lot. The sofa bed in the leaving room is just for sitting... it is hard to sleep on it as it is wobbly (you can fall from it) and you can feel the springs. And because of that my sister had to leave the place and stayed with our friends (it was good that we had someone we know over there).

Thank God it was only for two nights! It was gross - super dusty and unpleasant. A random collection of old stuff, a TV placed right over an old wood stove, a broken mirror with dirty clothes and blankets behind to balance it, dry flowers and dying pot flowers (bad omen), a statue of Budha, and a dreamcatcher. Looks more like kich, not folklore. In front of the apartment's front door dirty linen has been stored and remained there during my entire stay. The worst was the bathroom - broken bare bricks covered by spider webs, a random collection of leftovers from previous guests', marked as "free toiletries". The shower head was a small mobile one and you need to hold it while showering (there is no tool on the wall to hang it on). The toilet seat was not properly fixed and moving while sitting. The Toilet Roll Holder was loose and easily fell down. In the kitchen, the tap is loose as well. I was surprised to find out the left holder with the letter H on it actually provides the cold water and vice versa, the right one marked with the Letter C provides the hot water. The cookware was visibly dirty as in the picture. The apartment is near the tram line, and while lying peacefully in bed in the evening can feel the vibration from the passing tram. All the above ruined my impression of Bratislava upon arrival and I was relieved to leave.

The apartment was in good location near the old town and that was an advantage. The heating system was excellent.

The apartment wasn't in good condition. There was dust everywhere, on the counter and on the furnitures. Besides the broken mirror there were garbages like carton boxes etc. The sofa wasn't in good condition. On the bed and the bedsheets there were hairs. In the bathroom we found garlics at the floor. The kitchen was equipped with utensils and pans, but there was no coffee nor tea or sugar. The box of the tea packets was empty. The check in was not easy because the informations we had weren't up to date. The locker doesn't have a button so we had to improvise and reach to the owner for help because we had to open the locker differently. Also we think that the owner has to put a sticker or something else to differentiate the locker from all the others hanging at the door. In conclusion there is a difference between folklore decor and abandonment of the apartment. We don't recommend it.
