Two bedroom apartment in single family home

We had a great and wonderful stay! Location was beautiful and very convenient for our travel. It’s a perfect amount of space for a family of 4-5.

It was a full basement portion of a large family home, in an affluent neighborhood, with a separate entrance from the back of the house. Automated check-in, good communication, excellent location, spacious, tidy, comfortable. Felt very welcomed and at home.

Breakfast was included, but was raw; unable to cook due to lack of utensils and cooking oil. In the morning, I could hear the cat mewing and trying to enter the property through the link door (I have a cat phobia).

It was really quiet and comfortable. And it was great having a pool table. Loved that the TV was easy to operate. I’ve stayed in Airbnb’s that had strange set ups where you couldn’t find something as basic as CBS or ESPN.

It was a little bit off the beaten path for where I was needing to be. That isn’t a property problem; that was my fault for not paying attention.

The owner was very rude and disrespectful. Upon our arrival, we were given instructions where to find the key to the home in the back of the house. We noticed a peculiar, disgusting odor upon entry. All sections of the home were not accessible to us. The description of the home states... single family home for use. Doors were locked and barred off with furniture blocking them. Upstairs was even blocked off. We couldn't get to the front door entryway. It was blocked. One way in and one way out. Our phones didn't work, and we couldn't get service to even call anyone or the owners to discuss the situation we walked into. We decided to leave and go to a secure place where our phones had service. Upon leaving, we noticed the windows above the garage were opened and the curtains blowing in the wind. This was strange. We were able to call the owners and tried to explain our situation, but he was very rude on the phone. I asked him if someone else was living there, and to my surprise, his reply was YES. He stated that he and his wife LIVES there. This was very much unacceptable for us as this was not in the home's description. How can you live on the premises and not disclose that information to anyone? We were very uncomfortable and did not feel safe staying. This situation inconvenienced us, causing us to find a different place and change our plans. I would not recommend this unsafe, smelly home to anyone, especially since the rude owners live on site!

The hosts are truly exceptional people. If I were to return to the DC area in the next few months or years, I would not stay anywhere else. It is a true home away from home. I will particularly miss the large space and the hospitality. And the cleanliness, which is exceptional. Last time they left a bit of extra snacks and goodies for me, I am a repeat customer, and that was greatly appreciated and welcome after traveling all day. I recommend this apartment (large apartment) very highly. If you book it, you are in luck; please be civil and clean, and treat this home like an educated and neat traveler.

The oatmeal, eggs and toast available in the fridge on my arrival was a life saver the next morning since I arrived very late. Responsive hosts, clear directions and easy to get into the property. It was very clean and well appointed. Great neighborhood!

The treadmill and elliptical don’t work which was a bummer when I tried to use them but I got a nice run in around the neighborhood. There was a coffee machine but no coffee available to brew - that is a staple of my breakfast so I was sad to be without on my first morning.

Everything, it was very clean, comfortable, and spacious.

A light dimmer would have been nice or a night light for the first bedroom to find your way to the bathroom at night.

As always, my home away from home. The hosts are exceptional people. This is by far the best accommodation available in the Washington DC area. Clean, comfortable, pleasant home with extra touches. I made boiled eggs from the ones they offered and shared them with colleagues. They have a place in paradise.. in every possible sense.

Very nice facilities. Had large bedrooms. There was an exercise area with treadmill and bike (if you wanted to use them). A small work desk area. The bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed watching tv. Had a pool table if you were interested in that. They supplied some milk, eggs, bread, butter and fruit :) It was a wonderful place to land for a few nights while exploring Washington DC and the area. Came with a kitchen so you need to have that access, it's there but needs some more cookware.

Seems like they need more dishes. Planned to cook dinner there but glad we kept it simple because we could only cook in the microwave. The pots/pans supplied and other dishes left a lot to be desired. The pans were for larger groups of people and we just had the two of us. So soup and oatmeal were cooked in the microwave. Only had a few bowls and plates available. Couch was comfortable but hard to relax on -- pillows would really stay put so I could lounge on the couch and watch tv. Not a great cell signal available but might have been our carrier (Verizon).
