Summit View Lodge

I'm almost afraid to write too much about this place because it's a little known secret. It's fantastic. It's not a bedroom, it's a little suite with a full kitchen and living room, right in the heart of downtown, 2 blocks from the water, at a reasonable price. Shhh. Don't tell anyone!

We stayed for a great week in this 1/1 unit in a triplex walking distance to downtown with a view of water and mountains. Our apartment was very clean and well appointed - tv, wifi, small but well equipped kitchen. Bedroom was cozy with a queen bed. The bathroom had a good shower. The living room was comfortable for entertaining and relaxing. Bedding was all nice. The decor is what I call authentic rustic. All of Alaska is rustic not necessarily in a chic way but is the real deal with interesting eclectic arrangements and collections in home furnishings. Very comfortable, casual, unpretentious and just great. Loved reading the guest book of past visitors from around the world. Wonderful restaurants are nearby and lots of shops. We had hikes scheduled most days but also nature cruises and fishing trips go right out of Seward. I would love to go back to Summit View Lodge!!

Summit View Lodge was perfect for our family of 7. We rented all 4 units and found them all to be clean, comfortable and spacious with everything in good working order. The kitchens in all 4 units were well equipped and provided us with an easy way to get an early breakfast in before our full days of activities in the area. It is conveniently located within easy walking distance to the bay, and the views from just outside the building were spectacular.

4 nights in our favorite town. Perfect for what we needed. Heat was fabulous after a cold fishing trip. Great location. Brought a griddle so I wouldn't mess up kitchen.(note states $250 fine if kitchen not clean) WIFI worked great so we could work without using data on phone. The bed was super comfortable. Interactions with mgmt were iffy before check in, but that's not why I was renting. ( I also have rentals and understand strict guidelines and instructions)

Nice place to spread out. All rooms (living, bedroom, bath and kitchen) decent size. Bed was super comfortable with nice bedding. Outside looked somewhat underwhelming but we were pleasantly surprised at size and cleanliness of apartment. Very nice to be right at edge of town within walking distance of restaurants and fair view of bay. Check-in felt a little wonky but all worked out well. Quiet and homey.

we stayed in units 3 and 4 - both units were clean, unit #4 was very nice indeed. unit #3 was supposed to accomodate 4, but the sofa bed was just really uncomfortable and we ended up on the floor instead. other than that, we had no issues. for a last minute booking, it worked well.

Stayed in unit #3. It was very clean and comfortable. It is nice to have a kitchen and living space. We stayed in Seward for a week. It was a great place to come home to each night. The self check in worked great for us, as we arrived late. the pictures posted are very accurate with what it actually looks like. You cant beat the location. 2 blocks from the water! We would absolutely stay again. Thanks for a great stay!!

Nice hotel in downtown Seward. Close to seaside with great views and walking distance to downtown restaurants. Rooms are large and mine had a full kitchen. Not much for in room entertainment as TV channels were limited but didn't spend much time there. Color scheme was very unique.

I was a little sceptical at first as it was the first time I have come across a self check in hotel. But it turned out good in the end. It was a suite so it was a welcome change from a hotel room. It was pretty comfortable really. Good location. Only a 5 minute walk to some restaurants and bars and the Sea Life centre. The harbour was only a mile away so we walked to the Fjord tour that we had booked. The only criticism I have is the fact that the kitchen could do with a bit of an upgrade. Apart from that, no complaints.

We looked forward to our time in Seward, but were disappointed with our room. There was initial confusion when we attempted to check in our room. We were told we were in Room 1, and when we were unable to unlock our room, we had to drive to a home office to solve this problem because no one was answering the designated phone number. We found the manager person sleeping in her car outside the office. We were told that we had been changed to Unit 3 without any notification. I don't know what we would have done had we not found the manager in her car. After we got info, we drove back to the room. When we entered the room, there was a very unpleasant musty odor. The room appeared clean but because of this overwhelming odor, it was hard to believe that it was clean. My husband suffered bad allergies during the time we spent in the room. The bed and bedding were very poor and need to be replaced immediately. There were very specific directions posted all around the unit which set a very unwelcoming tone. We were afraid of being fined for leaving an unclean space or charged for damage in this sub-par lodging. We are generally positive people, but have to be honest and not recommend this place.
