Sea Shell

The location was amazing - overlooking the beach and sea cliffs. The view is spectacular. Property is well maintained and clean. Breakfasts are not provided but there is a restaurant just downstairs and another in the village.

The address information could have been clearer as the property is located in a block of apartments/flats which were not named.

The amazing view, decor and facilities the place has to offer. You have a view of the sea and the cliffs. Everything is close by and there is a good restaurant right underneath the accommodation.

There was no coffee or tea, but there was coffee or tea available at the restaurant downstairs.

BEAUTIFUL view. EXCELLENT location. Safe and quiet. A place to recharge body, mind and soul. Friendly helpful locals. We were out of season.

Rental Agent called a few hours before arriving from a friend's phone (first time we spoke to her) saying she will leave the keys in the door (they were on the inside, unit was unlocked). No handover done. Considering construction was happening on the same floor; it puts the renters, at risk should anything have been removed from the unit, no inventory list. On departure there was no one to give the keys to or check everything was ok. We left it as we found it. Comfortable, homely, could do with an update on decor, linen, towels, dish cloths. Advertised with a flat screen TV. Not a smart TV and not connected to anything, no one advised we should bring our own DSTV or TV box etc. So, no TV. Wi-fi was there, we had to look through all the drawers to find the code; finding a piece of paper with a number of notes on it, until figuring out which one was the right one. At this point called the owner (she was out of the country on business travel and in a different time zone which made it difficult, she assisted where she could). The owner sent us the agent's number and said we should contact her if we had any further issues. Lovely day bed on balcony but been left outside, wet and dirty, not able to use. Bathroom not cleaned properly. Shower curtain MUST be replaced, for hygiene purposes, we tied it up and did not use it. Windows NOT cleaned, in spite of bad weather, the empty flats on either side were cleaner than ours. A clotheshorse is needed to hang wet towels or clothing; to avoid damaging furniture, in the event of windy or rainy conditions you cannot hang stuff outside (it will look bad to hang clothes on balcony). NO washing machine; it would be helpful to advise if there is a launderette close by. Communal lights must be put on at night, very dark, or ask guests to do so. Light outside unit does not work (may be globe). Recommendation list of contacts including for emergencies needed. We left some pamphlets for next visitors.

The worst was checking in, I waited 2 hours before someone responded to my calls, what's up or sms. This was such a huge turn off, very disappointed. The manager of the unit didn't even tell me where to find where, no information notes or nothing, about wifi, rules, keys. She only came to apologize and that's it.

Morgan Bay was unfortunately without power the night I had booked for. But the kind host, Jo, quickly refunded my booking, even though the situation was out of her control and in no way her fault. In addition - she offered me an additional night, for free, which was incredibly kind of her! I look forward to visiting Sea Shell soon. Let's hope Eskom keeps the lights on!!!
