Akkedis at Artemis

We loved the location. It was a very short drive to the centre of town, yet the property made us feel like we were in the countryside, surrounded by the most outstanding scenery. The gardens were absolutely delightful. A truly magical and incredibly relaxing experience!!!

The location of Akkedis cottage on the Artemis Estate is absolutely stunning. If you are looking for the most peaceful place in the Franschhoek valley to unwind from hectic city life, a weekend away from hustle and bustle or the end of an exhausting vacation trip through beautiful South Africa, this is where you have to stop and relax! The host was very attentive and responsive throughout the stay.

There is really nothing to complain about. Just one constructive criticism or suggestion would be to provide a more comfortable sitting choice inside or outside of the cottage. How wonderful it would be to sit outside in a comfy lounger and take in the ever changing, stunning view from high above Franschhoek into the valley. The cottage is situated on Uitkyk Street after all 😉

Akkedis is in a beautiful setting with extensive gardens to walk in and original art that helps to create a tranquil atmosphere. The views from the freshwater pool are stunning. Staff are friendly and informative, we had a wonderful 2 night stay

Everything about this property is magical. Trust the reviews and book! Great kitchen, huge bedroom, oodles of hot water, soft towels and the grounds are stunning including a beautiful pool. We have stayed in India, Chile and Oman in some off beat places but this was exceptional!

The garden with a labyrinth and swimming dam really make this place. The accommodation was clean and the quality bed linen and towels were appreciated. The kitchen had everything necessary for my stay.

The bedroom has two outdoor wooden benches and the living area a wicker style couch & chair. None of them are comfortable to sit on and relax (& read a book) and in the darker evenings that is quite a negative. Next time I will take a collapsible chair!

Very charming and spacious no frills cottage, we could have easily stayed here longer. Loved the gardens and the pool and it’s just a short walk into town or easy to get an uber within 5 minutes, in January at least. Definitely stop by the winery just in front, they do a silent disco wine tasting that you don’t want to miss.
