The photo of the Homestead above.

There were no windows in the bedroom or tiny kitchenette, making it very dark and depressing. There was no cellphone signal or WiFi and the small TV did not work for the first day / night 🙄. Only Netflix was available on the TV. There were no DSTV or news programmes at all. I chose this particular more expensive accommodation as it was advertised as having a shower or bath, whereas the cheaper units were advertised as shower only. There was no bath, only a shower. If we had brought guests with us for the spare room containing 2 single beds, they would have had to go through our bedroom to use the bathroom and the kitchenette 😳. The accommodation was advertised as being 11 kms from Stellenbosch. It was a lot further to Stellenbosch Central. The accommodation was not serviced and we were advised to leave the place neat and tidy on departure. This accommodation was disappointing and very overpriced for what we got, in my opinion.

What a fantastic place we ended up at on our first night in South Africa. Imagine staying on a vineyard—everything felt safe, and the hosts were friendly and extremely helpful. The beds were comfortable, the room was spacious, and despite the peaceful atmosphere, the property is only a 30-minute drive from the airport. Our host met us on arrival, explained everything, and assisted us with anything we needed. Don’t forget to try the wine—and take some with you, it’s delicious.

I just loved absolutely everything about my stay, pity it was only one night. From the time I arrived I received the best care. My room was huge, with the most comfortable couch and the bed was amazing I slept like a baby. The unit was an old building with the bathroom renovated so really beautiful. The unit had everything I needed. Coffee on the terrace with the birds chirping was wonderful. Would recommend! Also lovely for anyone wanting to do wine tasting on your doorstep or hiking. Love love love
