THE BLYDE LAGOON BEACH PRETORIA 3 BEDROOM GROUND FLOOR APARTMENT

We were stuck in the heat waiting for the host to respond because security wouldn’t allow us through. There was a lack of communication when purchased I should have gotten all details emailed to me to avoid the problem of accessing the premises. Even the security at the gate thought it was a scam because I didn’t get the block number or unit number or access code. The property furniture was old. Couches uncomfortable and old. Dining chairs had holes. The plates were chipped and unsafe to eat from. There was only 4 glass cups in a 6 person accommodation. The dining table was sticky. There were lots of cockroaches and ants I had to defog the place. I felt dirty to sit,sleep or eat using the stuff. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The place only felt clean when the lovely cleaning lady came in to clean the place then it looked bright and clean. The lights kept switching if at intervals through the day and night for a shirteile then switched back on. I don’t believe the property was cleaned or prepped for me. The host only just topped up toilet paper, sugar and coffee on my arrival. Whilst I paid a lot of money for my stay it was not worth the cost and the property was below standard in cleanliness or appearance. The pots were old and like all the utensils in the kitchen needed replacing. The washing machine kept leaking, the microwave was old and damaged. The curtains couldn’t draw open in the lounge. Seriously the entire property needs an update and revamp, new furniture, new dishes,cups and pots, new equipment in the kitchen. Clean the place and disinfect and defog for cockroaches and ants. There are too many. That is very unhygienic. Thanks to the cleaner she made the place feel better to actually eat in by the amazing clean she did on Wednesday if our stay. If this place gets updated I would recommend, otherwise I would not recommend at all.

Nothing, as our host did not make the necessary arrangements to have access to any of the facilities.

Poor communication. Slow to respond causing significant inconvenience. Host forgot about our reservation. Took over an hour to get access to the accommodation. Accommodation was not cleaned adequately. Linen was not in a new condition, cigarette burns on the sheets and towels were dirty. Basic essentials were not provided. Specific example is toilet paper. We had to try find a shop to go buy toilet paper and stock the toilets ourselves. We paid to stay at this property due to the facilities that were advertised which attracted us, unfortunately the host did not arrange for access to this and for the 2 days we were there were unable to get access. No value for money and false advertising. Felt trapped in the estate because security passes were not provided upfront.

Location was good

Everything. There were ants everywhere in the house & greeted by cockroaches & a terrible smell in our apartment the whole weekend. Microwave is rusted. We were scared to use it in case it burst or burn. The house was dirty & dirty laundry in the cupboards. On Saturday, we thought it’s loadshedding until we asked neighbours. From 9am until late afternoon. So disappointed that electricity was finished, not loaded. All beds were painful, pillows & linen - horrible. Towels were white but now horribly brown. Sofas are uncomfortable & smelling. No PRIVATE POOL as you advertised. As for the kitchen. Three bedroom is for six people but plates & cutlery was not. Only 3 cereal bowls, plates were chipped. No dustbin in the main bedroom or even sidelamps. Yoh, spiderwebs. I have operations for my SpinalChord & that apartment made it worse. I’m done with Booking.com

THE APARTMENT IS NICE, CLEAN, ACCOMMODATES FAMILY NICELY. VERY QUIET AND IF YOU WANT TO RELAX, ITS A PLACE TO BE.

COCKROACHES SPOILED OUR STAY. THE PLACE NEEDS TO BE FUMIGATED. THERE WAS NO SOAP, NOT EVEN A SMALL SHAMPOO, WE HAD TO GO TO THE CONVENIENT STORE TO BUY A VERY EXPENSIVE SOAP FOR R30. IF YOU GO THERE TO ENTERTAIN YOUR KIDS AND HOPING TO GET AN HOUR TO ENJOY THE POOL BEFORE CHECK OUT, FORGET THEY WONT ALLOW YOU OF WHICH TO ME THAT IS UNFAIR. YOU MUST PAY R80 PER PERSON . HOST: YOU MUST COMMUNICATE ENTRY CODE ON TIME, WE WERE IRRITATING THAT WE HAD TO REVERSE FROM THE GATE TO CALL YOU FOR THE CODE AND WE WENT OUT BUT AGAIN ON EXIT WE STRUGGLED BUT MR NICE SECURITY CHECKED US OUT. ITS EMBARRASSING TO BE STUCK AT THE GATE.
