The Stoke House

Its close enough to all the excitement of town but far enough that one can enjoy the quiet comfort of Clarens. A lovely stay every time

Great views, secluded from the town centre, but close enough to get there within 5 minutes. Great hosts, comfortable and clean accommodation

A nice relaxing bath would have been great, but shower was great with excellent water pressure

I like how convenient everything was, shops, restaurants, activities and most importantly the premises were clean, had all the amenities and since it was winter, the host made sure we were kept warm with a heater and electric blanket, even got free vouchers for drink, and she kept checking up and making sure we were comfortable, best stay

I liked that the host was nice

I did not like that the place was false advertising and in the booking it stated entire house only to find that it was a house partitioned with other rooms. This made the stay very uncomfortable and the fact that the host does not have all appliances which is really inconvenient (something like a Iron and Ironing board) . I was very uncomfortable because now we were reprimanded all the way which really did not make the stay nice.

My hubby, mom-in-law, two fur kids and I stayed in the main area of The Stoke House and we absolutely loved our stay! Home has that rustic yet modern farm style aesthetic - large open plan kitchen and lounge with gorgeous exposed beam ceilings. Evenings were nippy but amenities were plentiful to keep us warm - cozy fire place, heaters in each room and heated blankets in each bed. Bathroom is modern with a large shower and huge bathtub. Great outdoor area with a patio, built in braai area, and beautifully maintained garden - perfect if you're bringing doggos. The Stoke House is very centrally located and we loved how close it was (400 - 500m walking distance) to the town square, brimming with bars, restaurants, cafes, shops and art galleries. Neighbourhood is very safe, we walked everywhere. It's also about 1km walk to the Clarens Village Conservancy hiking trails. It's the perfect stay for families, couples, friends or solo travellers. Lindsey was the perfect host and a pleasure to deal with. Please note it is located on a main road and can get noisy but it's a small price to pay for the central location. We'll definitely be back!
