Close to train station

The bathroom stinks of sewage smell, had to open the window all the time to let the smell go away. The shower is a joke. It’s so small that you can’t even wash your back because your elbow hits the glass wall all the time, not to mention to bend to wash your feet… Forget about sitting on the sofa to relax, as it’s not comfortable at all.

"Overall value for money in a great location."

The location is excellent if you want easy access to the city centre and the lake. Overall the facilities are good. The balcony gets the sun in the afternoon if you like sunbathing. Communication with the hosts was excellent. The bed was comfy. Ideal for couples.

Not sure if this could be fixed, it’s not possible to use two appliances at once in the kitchen such as the kettle and toaster/ microwave. There were a few minor niggles which could be easily rectified with minimal cost and a bit of attention.

"Spend the money for a better place"

The balcony though small and a washing machine.

They originally told me that I had to arrive by 7 pm and then they provided automated checkin instructions (after we originally killed ourselves to make the train). We decided to eat dinner before heading to the apartment. When we arrived, we had to carry our luggage up the last floor (which is stated) and then couldn’t find the sheets and towels for the sofa. We finally got a response. Were up all night with the loud, ever present sounds coming from the AC and the lack of cooling. I sent a recording to the staff and they said it was normal. It’s not normal. I have traveled for years with wall units and never heard this grinding, high pitched sound every 3 mins … always. Never really cooled and Italy was in a heat wave. Staff not helpful, but I guess it’s pretty cheap for Lake Como.

"The apartment added a great deal to a superb holiday in Como."

Very quiet building with excellent security. Good facilities with the added bonus of a balcony with good views.

The checking-in procedure completed online was complicated and could present a problem for people who are not au fait with the internet etc.

facilities everything were great - decent value for money

I didn’t like how the mgmt communicated with me after our stay. There was a city tax that wasn’t included in the final payment. Three months after our stay I received an impolite notice that I was in arrears. I responded that there had been no communication about this - and I paid the 12 euros. They doubled down in their response and started telling me that this was my 4th notice and I should check my spam folder. I did. Not a message. Simple phone call could have sorted this out - they got their 12euros and lost a customer.

"Had we spent any lengthy period in the apartment, it would have completely destroyed our holiday."

Very Little: The apartment was close enough to the main part of Como City but was right next to Como Lago train Station with trains making a lot of noise early in the morning and all day. Constant ambulances and police cars and traffic noise as it is near a hospital. Blowing horns of cars as drivers seem to have no patience at all. Spacious bedroom , Bathroom, and living room/Dining Room but no attention to detail with paintwork, cleaning to ensure no smell of smoke, checking why there was a sewer smell in the bathroom, cut back the hedge on the balcony and attend to the flowers. Water came in the doors from the balcony when we had a thunder storm one night. Hole in wall leaving in a severe draught which if the air condition was on would not be making the air conditioning effective. Torn section of balcony canopy dangling and blowing in the wind. Basically a very low star property.

On arrival at the apartment at 2.45, there was no key in the lock box. I rang the company and someone arrived in about 5 minutes. He told us he forgot to leave the key. Now we were not due to collect key until 3 and the company said we came too early, but the fact that the guy said he forgot to leave the key was enough for us. We then asked him about the 4 keys and he reluctantly gave us information as to what the keys were for , but it was all very dismissive. We opened the outer gates with one key, then there was a hallway with another door, which required another key. Then into a lobby and we were told to take the lift to the 5th. floor. We asked the gentleman to show us but he declined and gruffed that when we got out of the lift we had to climb two flights of stairs to the apartment on the right of the landing. This door required 2 keys to open it. On entering the apartment we were met with the smell of cigarette smoke. This apartment is supposed to be non smoking but there were no smoke alarms to let anyone know that someone would be smoking in the apartment. The smell of smoke appeared to be coming from the fabrics of the curtains and sofa bed. However with the doors open it was a bit better, but the temperatures were not very warm, so we had to suffer the cigarette smoke smell. There appeared to have been no serious effort to ensure that the apartment was tip top, there in our opinion is no attention to detail. The Bedroom had light curtains, one of which was not attached properly, and both curtains were dragging on the ground and all water stains. The air conditioning unit in the room was or had been leaking and the wall showed water stains all the way to the floor and along the bottom of the wall. There was also paint flaking off at the architrave under the leak. The wall by the bed had a lot of black scuff marks on the wall. The bathroom had an odour from the sewer all the time and we had to leave the window open all the time. More issues were present.
