The Retreat at Dukes Townhouse

The apartment was for the most part clean and in a super location .. and the welcome bag is a nice touch

We found an old vape in the sofa cushions which was a shame I don't know if it's because it is a basement flat but it was super cold, we turned up the thermostat but It didn't seem to get any warmer, the bathroom floor was cold no matter how high we turned that one up. But the most annoying thing was the bath. We felt like we paid extra for that little luxury but on the first night there wasn't enough hot water, even though the shower had been used once and quite a few hours previously. we tried again on the second evening but the water temp was so low that by the time you filled it up a part of the way it was already cold, the instructions gave no info for a boost button on the boiler so we were left quite disappointed that we didn't get to enjoy it If it's just there for decoration maybe mention that or make it so the water is actually warm!

Only issue was the heating - appt was very cold and the heating didn’t properly heat it up - even with heating on was still bordering on uncomfortable

It was really difficult to get the place warm. Took a long time. However, this might have just been due to the recent storm.

Another perfect stay with Stays! We loved the bath opening onto the living room, so luxurious. The entire apartment was beautiful (as expected) and the bed was super comfy. A gorgeous experience for our wedding anniversary! A quick walk into the centre of York and very close to the car park that we used on Marygate. You’ve got top spot as places to stay from us!

The only thing I’d say is the noise from occupants moving up the stairs above our apartment although this couldn’t be helped and wasn’t actually too bad. It did not hinder sleep or relaxation and wasn’t enough to put us off using this property again!

It was amazing. Very clean and very local.

The only negative was the hot water. Once you used your allowance it would then not get hot. I had a bath but then my husband could not get a shower as the bath had taken all the hot water

We loved our stay at the retreat and would love to go back soon. Very classy and cosy in a fabulous location right near the centre

It was a bit noisy with the apartment above
