Malt Shovel Court with Free Parking

Great location. Spacious. Light. Parking (1 car).

Was charged for damage to a table after stay based on a Cleaners report. It wasn’t us though and it was a bit concerning that we wouldn’t get our money back for someone else’s damage. In the end they noticed an older cleaner report with the same damage that cleared us. Money was then promptly returned. I don’t blame them but I can’t give 10/10 after this experience.

Floor boards upstairs are extremely creaky - which I know is a hard thing to fix Water system is very loud (flushing toilets and taking showers) even when it's the neighbours. Definitely wouldn't stop me from staying again as the place is lovely but it's useful to know/ be prepared

Easy to find, good spot allocated to park up. Location for getting about was 100% as it's right in town - bit noisy in the front bedroom due to revellers late at night but that aside it was generally quiet and secure too. Very well equipped with comfortable sofas, kitchen furnishings, bed linens and towels - we all commented on how the place seemed spotless so credit to the cleaning crew. Has the wow factor, we would 100% book here again.

Sadly on the first night the boiler made noise constantly through out the night , twice an hour gurgling away - it kept us all awake. The next day we switched the boiler off when we weren't using the water and it was very very peaceful indeed - prob needs a service!

Malt Shovel Court was far better than we anticipated. It was spotlessly clean and offered bags of room. The lounge was large, allowing everyone their own space to relax in. Good wi-fi. Just a few minutes walk takes you in to the town centre. We came by rail (Good walk to stretch the legs) but we were impressed by the ease of arriving by car. Easy entrance to a private parking space in a courtyard. We would probably use this next time

Can't say we disliked anything. Three friends, two of us had to share a bathroom, but that was no problem. I was the only one woken by Saturday night revellers, which actually was quite entertaining, even at 2:00 in the morning. The property overlooks the street that leads into town and being so close to the centre there may often be a few party-goers trying to figure out where the heck they were staying. That was Saturday night. Sunday night was quiet.

The accommodation is decorated to a high standard. Beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped . Location is great for exploring the centre of York - will definitely book again.

Creaky floorboards - but to be expected as it's an old building.
