H2.0 Genova

When we arrived to the office to check-in we were quite early and the staff kindly let us store our bags while we went into Genova to pass the time. When we returned at check-in time, they said ‘sorry, the cleaning team isn’t finished yet - it’s going to be another hour before you can check in’. When we were finally able to check-in we were sent on a mission across town, up and down hills and stairs - after a sweaty trek, we arrived at the property and the lift did not work. We made our way up the stairs and were shocked to find the apartment not as described. Sea view? What a joke! But it doesn’t end there. Housekeeping needed more time yet we had to make our own bed upon arrival … WITH DIRTY SPOTTY SHEETS… The apartment itself was small, boiling hot and appeared that no real attempt had been made to clean beyond wiping down a bench and vacuuming the floor. The shower was covered in mold, the sheets were dirty, the floors needed a good mop, the bin in the bathroom was broken. After messaging the property managers to ask for a refund they simply responded ‘the cleaners say the cleaned it, so it’s clean’. In NO WAY was this apartment fit for check-in or to safely house any people - but beyond that, the team and staff made no effort to rectify or support us in the fact that the condition it was provided in was unliveable. We had no choice but to be out of pocket several hundred dollars and find other accommodation - save yourself the trouble, DO NOT BOOK HERE!!

La posizione è strategica

Non mi è piaciuto il fatto che ci sia scritto “vista mare” invece il mare non si vede. Perché mai fare così? Cancellatelo, così deludete soltanto. Altra cosa negativa non ci sono delle zanzariere, il che rende la stanza piena di zanzare dato che è abbastanza verde intorno.

Unfortunately during our stay we found multiple cockroaches in the property itself, both in the bathroom and by the bed. We contacted the owner and they offered us to move apartments, which was appreciated however the apartment they moved us to was across the city, meaning we had to spend half a day moving apartments, due to our trip only being two days long, this was very unfortunate. We requested some form of compensation for this issue and we were originally offered an amount which we didn't see adequate to the inconvenience it caused us, upon expressing this the owner was very short and rude, and withdrew the offer entirely. Not only was the property unhygienic and not fit for use, the owner delt with the situation very unprofessionally leaving us having had a very unpleasant experience!

Due to technical reasons, we got another apartment close to the cattedrale, it was great.

The location is fantastic — right in the heart of the old town. I was able to walk everywhere, and getting to the train station was easy, just two stops away and very quick. I also really liked the checkout time they set, it worked perfectly for me. The ladies at the office were absolutely lovely. If I could rate them separately, it would be extraordinary. They kindly allowed me to leave my luggage there while I went sightseeing, and they were always very quick to respond to my messages on WhatsApp.

The apartment had a noticeable mold smell. The bed: The sofa bed didn’t have a proper mattress — when you open it, the back of the sofa folds down to form the bed. I had to set it up and make the bed myself. Unfortunately, the sofa also had a strong, musty old furniture smell. I was charged €5 for bed linen and towels, and still had to make my own bed. The duvet stored inside the sofa was musty and dirty, so I couldn’t use it. I ended up sleeping without a duvet and used a bath towel to cover myself because I felt cold during the night. The pillow had yellow stains and honestly should be thrown away — I didn’t have the courage to sleep on it. There was visible mold on the ceiling and around the toilet window. The entire apartment is in need of renovation, including a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom: The grout in the shower was full of mold, the water pressure was very weak, and worse — there was dried nose mucus on the wall near the toilet seat, which was extremely unpleasant. The kitchen: There wasn’t even a kettle. I wanted to make tea and had to heat water in the microwave instead.
