Fern Lodge

Absolutely gorgeous property surrounded by old growth trees. The beds were so comfortable, and the house contained every amenity we could think of. The hosts clearly love this lodge, and do a great job of making guests feel welcome.

We could have used air conditioning on the Saturday night, but we know that it doesn’t get up to 31°c very often!

A lovely peaceful place in the middle of nowhere .Woods on your doorstep .

Not really anything to dislike.

The location of the lodge is perfect for peace and tranquility. However, be prepared for the the avian artists to give your car a make over! The Lodge had everything you need for a relaxing stay and the beds, sofa and seats were all very comfortable. The only noises we could hear were from nature and if you are as lucky as us, you may have an early morning visit from the small deer 🦌. The lodge is quite a distance from the restaurant at the park entrance, which is not a problem for most people, but for small children or people with mobility issues, it might be best to use a car. On the other hand, there is a great path through the woods just a few yards up from the lodge.

My only slight negative would be the Internet connection. Whilst for most people a break from the world sounds ideal, if you need to be in contact with friends or family, a stable connection is a must. This is even more so when you consider there is zero EE, O2, Vodafone or Three mobile signal available. During our stay, the best speed we got was around 4Mbs, which is sufficient for browsing and emails, but for a lot of the time, we only got around 1Mbs and even had complete drop outs.

N/A breakfast. Location was very nice, just a shame the weather wasn’t too kind to us.

Being the last row, really felt like middle of nowhere, it was spotless and stocked really well, including extras like dvds and games to borrow etc the instructions book was fabulous and definitely made life easier. The cabin was something of dreams, bigger than our home and no neighbours. It was secure and well lit outside. The decking was great at night for watching the wildlife and enjoying the silence. A well equipped store room made it easy to keep it tidy while on our stay, the addition of a bath made it feel like luxury living. Our kids and dogs all loved lounging on the rug and looking out the patio door. We would love to return for a longer stay as we never slept as well. My 11yo loved building a den on the back and hiding painted rocks, no mobile in his hand. My daughter enjoyed reading her books while sat on the decking. We booked this to avoid Halloween and fireworks and it was perfect.. we only heard, owls, foxes, dear etc not one firework. Perfect.

We didn't book for longer. The main bedroom door needs oil/adjustment as it needs a push to close, was worried it would jam.
